Hi all, having read many posts on here it seems there is a huge variety of symptoms and some solutions to some of the problems of IBS. I've never been diagnosed with IBS but have all the classic symptoms of bloating, bowl discomfort, lethargy and have been prescribed Meberavine which does seem to help. One thing I have noticed that affects me and I wonder if other people have this and any suggestions for a remedy is occasionally I feel lethargic, feverish and shivery, slightly bunged up in the nose, how you would typically feel with a cold - I wondered if I have a recurring problem of a bacterial gut infection, I have had a colonoscopy with showed nothing abnormal other than very minor signs of diverticulitis. I'd welcome any advice.
High temperature / fever solutions?: Hi all... - IBS Network
High temperature / fever solutions?
You don't say if you are IBS(Diarrhoea) or (Constipation). If you had constipation it would make you lethargic and give you a bunged up nose (bunged up nose, bunged up bum, runny nose, runny bum). Also you can get hot and cold with IBS, well I do anyway.
As far as I know feverishness and chills or a stuffy nose are not part of IBS. Other than the stuffy nose, however, they could be part of SIBO. I had a low grade fever and slight chills and was very tired but was then diagnosed with SIBO. You might also have allergies or a mild sinus infection. You should check this out with your doctor.
What treament did you get for the SIBO?
Hello there, I've not had any as never heard of it until I saw your posting so going to look into that. Thanks once again
Hi - To diagnose it you take a breath test. The treatment is 2 weeks of Rifaxin )not sure I spelled it correctly) and then a further 2 weeks treatment with a second antibiotic. After that I was referred to a dietician and told to follow the FODMAP diet. I am doing that now, and will see my gastroenterologist mid-May. I am not sure if I will need another SIBO breath test. I should mention that all of this was preceded by CAT scans and blood tests to rule out anything else.
Being feverish is not an IBS symptom. Have you had your COVID vaccine recently? The symptoms you describe including fatigue come with the vaccine.
Hello there, yes I had my vaccine about 3 weeks ago but the reason I link the two is I tend to get these feverish symptoms sometimes when I'm having a bad bought of what I think is IBS - It's just I've noticed this happening a few times now over the past 6 months or so. Appreciate the two may not be related and just a coincidence
Synus problems are often caused by a dairy intolerance. Also a common problem for IBS. Just a thought
