Can anyone recommend a probiotic please?
Probiotics : Can anyone recommend a probiotic... - IBS Network
Probiotics
I took one of the strongest pro biopics available which also contained a prebiotic, called Floratrex. I took it every day for two months after lots of antibiotics. I noticed it completely regulated my number twos. I then took it twice a week until someone recommended Alflorex which is specific for IBS so I changed over as it’s cheaper. I’ve not noticed any difference but it still keeps me regulated. I used to have bad diarrhoea ever day but not any longer. Floratrex costs £80 and Alflorex costs £25 from Boots.
I drink kefir every day. In tests it comes out above all supplements. I have also started eating sauerkraut.
Hi auntyjean, I noticed your post concerning Kefir, have you found that it has benefited you? I began making my own several months ago, but as yet had no improvement with my IBS
I was doing this for a few years and initially it seemed to help. Then became ineffective. I now take Alflorex which helps me. I do not have diagnosed IBS but had constant gut discomfort/pain.
Hi lallym, thank you for your reply, I have tried Alflorex for a long period of time, unfortunately they did not help me. I am pleased for the people they have helped 🤗
The gastroenterologist in St Thomas’ hospital in London told me that the best one with most data and research is Symprove. I haven’t tried it as it’s very expensive but I would consider it for a trial period if Flores had not worked for me.
I was already feeling better but as a stool test showed I had virtually no good gut bacteria I started kefir as various very expensive probiotics had not helped. I feel very well now and am not getting colds etc so feel it does work.
Aww thank you for your reply. I have read on a post a while ago it took a person a year to find any benefit from Kefir. I will keep at and try to eat a little more higher FODMAP foods to feed it. For so many years I have avoided FODMAPS, as I can’t tolerate any of the groups, but it is counter-productive. I am so pleased that you and others have found ways to ease their symptoms. I just wish that some of the medical profession, would not say IBS is not treatable as some people do get better, and there is hope for all of us. Sorry about the rant!! Take care 🤗
Kefir is very good but doesn’t come near to Probiotics in terms of number of probiotic strains and live bacteria.
I take Natures Aid Probotics, I have found this really helpful, unlike the more expensive product I was taking previously.
Hi Kitten-whiskers, thank you for your reply. I will look into Natures Aid probiotics, I’v not tried those, but have tried many others with no benefits
Same here, I find these more helpful than any others I have tried. I hope they help you too x
I take Alflorex which has been scientifcally studied for IBS and it has changed my life.
These are what I use, they are so good that I re-order them when I need more instead of trying others.
Alflorex is well studied and is very widely used in many countries. There is a 12 week programme available via the website at PrecisionBiotics.com and this includes a discounted rate
Can you take Alflorex with mebeverine?
worth asking the Alflorex careline - they will know
