Ongoing stomach bowel issues

Hi everyone. I did a post about 7 months ago but im back and not any better. I have had ibs bowel issues since i was young and seemed to be strong enough to handle them but now im nearly 50 its really upsetting me to the point i dont know where to turn. Its not unusual for me to go to the loo 3 or 4 times a day with flat stools or very loose of half and half. The NEW problems started about 8 or 9 months ago. I suffer from a very noisy stomach gurgling noises all day everyday. No pain. Every 5 days i had felt gas come on but knew if felt more like diarrhea but it is mostly all gas say 90% and rest is slight bits of watery diarrhea but so little im not losing weight and this carries on till next morning then clears and back to normal. Well i had 39 days clear of this issue and its back tonight so im very upset. I know everytime i pass gas i will have this wet farts. Its so embarrassing and stops me doing things till it clears.I have had bloods done for bacteria or inflammation and celiac plus FIT stool test and everything came back clear so its so strange. I have no blood or anything like that and feel ok otherwise. Can someone please reply with someone info or similar problems and solutions. Thank you. malc

Hi Mal444

I have very similar symptoms to you, I was diagnosed with having IBS about ten years ago although having suffered with bowel problems since childhood.

I too have all the tests going, CT scans, colonoscopy blood tests etc and the same as you no blood in stools and no weight loss, I do get severe lower abdominal cramps a few times year leaving me doubled up with pain, I had a bad attack last July leaving me with severe pain in lower right side of abdomen, GP sent me for an ultrasound scan thinking I had appendicitis’s, again all normal, however this time I now have pain 24 hours a day radiating below my belly button right across my lower abdomen.

Phoned GP to explain once again given strong pain killers and laxatives as Zapain bung me up.

I really have had enough I now feel I can’t go on, Tried cutting out certain foods still the same,

During tests a few years ago they found I have Coeliac disease so I stay off foods contains gluten. I wish there was somewhere to turn to help as the doctors don’t seem to appreciate the pain I’m living with.

I don’t want to be a burden on the NHS as they have enough to do at present with Covid.

Hi. Thank you for taking the tine to reply to me. Yes its a lot of hassle trying to figure out whats going on but at least you found out you had celiac disease which can be handled with diet. I have been tested for that and i don't have it so back to square one again. Since my last episode im ok again its a weird cycle it really is. Doctor said if im not better in march then its camera time. I will try changing everything now but i do feel its not diet related as i could eat the same thing for a few days and then bang it hits me. Will keep you posted how things go for me over next few weeks.

Have you been tested for h pylori??

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Yes i have and it was negative. So no idea whats causing this as it seems to clear after each episode for a while then comes back then clears

Hello, I was diagnosed with IBS 25 years ago, which lead to wheat intolerance. I've tried to manage it over the years & had many tests & medications. I joined an IBS support group, which helped immensely. I am now under a dietician to follow a low fodmap diet. Worth looking into as a guide what to eat to avoid tummy/bowel issues

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I wish i could see a dietitian but with current things in the world i would not think it would be possible to see one. Someone that knowd what there talking about as in diet would help greatly. I suppose the good thing is i dont pass blood or feel ill. Its like i have a infection for 12 hours when it hits me. Hardly anything comes out just all gas and tiny bits. Then ok again. If it was something i am allergic to as in eating i would stop eating it. Just cant put my finger on whats happening

Your symptoms do sound like IBS. I frequently have a lot of gas, not able to empty my bowels & lots of mucus. I didn't see a dietician, I contacted my GP in distress, not knowing what I could eat & he referred me to dietician, who asked for a weeks food diary, which they analysed & recommended Low Fodmap diet
