Who here takes imodium daily, how many do you take and how long have you been taking them daily for? Thanks in advance for any answers

According to my Gastro Imodium can be taken long term... For me I take when needed long term.

MorningOne capsule can do the trick. Since lockdown I have hardly taken any🤔 probably because I am at home with a toilet at hand

I only take it if I absolutely have to or to prevent diarrhoea when travelling etc.1 or 2 used to be enough now it usually 3.

Its loperamide as Immodium is a brand name you will pay a lot more for. I get it on prescription.

Your body seems to get used to it hence needing more. I find it gives me griping pains in stomach

I take them as and when I need to, usually when I am going out, which isn't often at the moment, when I go out I can taken 3-4 to be sure that I will be OK.

Hiya, I usually take two but if I’m really really bad then 3/4. I take in the morning soon as a wake up I usually get up two hours before I leave so have time to kick in. I use the instant ones.

pretty much daily and 5-6. I find if I take none I have problems so It has to be pre emptive

Probably 20 years+. Usual dose is 2mg in the morning and 2mg evening, but I can increase this up to max of 16mg in 24 hours if required.

I take them whenever I have to travel or have an appointment,I have been taking them for at least 20 years possibly a lot longer.At one time I could take 1or 2 and it would take a few days for my body to get back to normal.Now I often have to take 4 before I feel able to leave the house,and I’m back to normal the next day.

Be careful with anything like this. If you suffer from IBS and your symptoms are caused by irritation in the bowel by certain foods, slowing gut transition keeps that irritant food longer in the bowel and therefore can cause prolonged stomach pain.

I take 1 twice a day like clockwork. I find they help me a lot. I did used to take 1 three times a day but it was making me constipated so reduced to 2. I sometimes take an extra one if I feel I need to, if I am going out somewhere.

My GP once told me that I could take up to 6 a day if I needed to.

But everyone is different. It depends on your diet and what other medication you are taking. Experiment and see what works best for you. Try a different dose for a few days and see how you are, then adjust the dosage to suit you. I would take them evenly throughout the day though.

Hi rainybeanI’ve been taking immodium for 6 years daily. Occasionally if I know I’m in for day I give myself a rest from them. No side effects. I’ve recently started taking Alflorex it’s really helped but I haven’t stopped with Imodium.

I been taking the alflorex for 5 years I was really bad but I find it helps and I take imodium when I need it I can take 2 Imodium together if I feel I need to

I take 1 off brand 2mg tablet every day when I wake up. I started this during lockdown because I think lockdown really impacted my anxiety, and taking it helps me know that it's all under control. I don't get any cramps, or other issues, just D so might be different for you.

Hi, I have been taking loperadime for about 5 years now, for the first couple of years I took 2 daily. My symptoms then eased off almost completely & I pretty much stopped using them until the last couple of years. I generally now maybe take 2 every other day or if I know I'm going out for the day or my tummy is gurgling I will take them then as well. I have no side effects or pains from taking them.
