IBS tummy pain unbearable

Has anyone got any advice for dealing with bad tummy pains? I’ve had IBS for about 6-7 years but I’m just getting so fed up with the pain. It’s so bad I can hardly stand for 2 sometimes up to 5 hours until it goes away and it’s happening roughly two or three times a month. Nothing seems to help the pain I’ve tried strong painkillers like panadeine forte and endone and also buscopan, colese and colofac. Sometimes a heat pack or hot bath takes the edge off but not always and gps and gastro specialists can’t seem to help me!

I find a heat pad, and then going to lay down in bed, takes the edge off the pain. However, as pain is only an alarm system, I strongly suggest you let your GP know about these attacks, especially if they are becoming more frequent.

Hi,

I've been thinking, and I remember that I have, in the long and distant past, been given DF118 (Dihydrocodeine). That is really strong stuff, and is only available on prescription. It does have a tendency to make you constipated, but that is the only bad thing I can remember about it.

I had it after my dad died, and it had me doubled up for weeks.

Nothing worked, so it was suggested that tricyclic antidepressants may relax the spasms.

Didn't like that idea, so found a supplement that has similar but milder properties: Theanine Serene - it has L-Theanine, L-Taurine and GABA in it, plus Holy Basil and has an option with Relora.

Much to my surprise it worked in a couple of hours, and two each day for a couple of weeks made a huge difference.

My IBS is stress induced, so perhaps depends on the nature of it. Just a thought.
