Bad sleep

Hello,

I had had IBS since tbe age of 14 when I will use the corner of a table into my belly to ease off the pain. Over the years the pain has changed tremendously. I am now 54 and I can no longer baer it.

It wakes me up at night. I find it difficult to explain but it is a burning sensation that echoes in my back. Also I can not breath as it is quite painful. It feels like my bowels are all glued together and as if they are inflammed. I never know how I would wake up the next day every night.

I wake up moaning and crying. Walked, completly hunched as I can breath. Untik I go toilets this pain would last. The first poo is painful and hard followed by very smooth stool. After that I get better throughout the day, and can get on with it.

However, since 3 weeks, the pain carries on throuhout the day. Back pain, difficulty breathing as each breath echos in my belly. My stool turns from hard to soft in a day, thoug very watery on Thursday. This has been going on for 3 weeks.

Doctor just gave me a week off. I am new there and I am anxious about losing my job now, four months into it.

I dont know what to do. I changed my diet to glutten and wheat free food, as well as lactose free. Nothing work. I was prescribe amitriptyline, 10mgx2. I sleep better but the pain is still there.

My symptoms are not understood. Anyone here has experienced this?

I can no longer coop. I am scared of eating and dread going to bed andthat, more and more, which does not help my blood pressure which is getting hogher and higher constantly because of the pain and the lack of sleep.

Anyone?

Have you looked into following the FODMAP diet. Also have you been tested for food intolerances.

I have been tested for allergy in the past and nothing showed. I love lentils and it is the only thing I thought my body could not tolerate. But I think, things have changed over the years. I removed glutten and wheat from my diet, as well as lactose.

I realised that I had flair up when I bought pasta, french bread and other kind of food from Tesco and Liddl. If it is bought from Sainsbury, I would be ok.

Anyway, I need to remove coffee from my diet and that is quite difficult. My two vices are coffee and cigarettes. I don't drink and I don't smoke either.

I wonder if other people have the same symptom then I?

Thanks

Goodness, poor you 😞. You must feel utterly wretched. Have you had your gallbladder checked out? Xxxx

My gallbladder was removed in 2009.

My appendice was also removed in 1992, as doctor thought I had appendicitis at that time. It was healthy of course

You must be feeling horrible. Have to tried keeping a food diary to eliminate trigger foods? Or you could try intolerance and allergy testing? The Dr recommended to me eating small portions throughout the day and snacks in between, also to make sure to sit up for a couple of hours after a meal to aid digestion. I'm still in pain but it has helped I'm more comfortable. For pain I tend to drink pukka three Ginger tea, and basically eat anything ginger and buscopan. Although I'm still in pain everday this has helped some of the problems it might help you. Otherwise have you tried buscopan or mebervene? Or silicol gel?

I have been on buscopan for many years and it does help. My gallbladder was removed in 2009. I tried a medecine sounding like mebervene though it was not that, it made it worse.

I work full time, in a job I ŕeally love, room leader in a nursery, but I am so often off for medical reason (ill or appointment), I don't think they will keep me. I am still in my probation period. Finding another job will be hard.

I have lately been "catalogued" as being very anxious, which I can not deny. So now I am anxious about loosing my job.

I was given amitriptyline x2 at night. Yesterday the pain woke me up anyway, even with that medication. So i am going to stop it as you can be highly dependent of it. I am thinking to take it only when I am in pain not as a regular medecine. I do not intend to become addicted to no medication. I am already a smoker that is enough for me.

I will try the pukka trhee ginger tea. Thanks

If you mean mebeverine, as the med, it really made my symptoms almighty worse.

Hi, I was wondering about your gallbladder removal. Normally after having your gallbladder removed you can have problems with Bile Acid Malabsorption, but you obviously don't have this. But I goggled gallbladder removal and constipation and it said that sometimes after removal of your gallbladder a stone can remain in the common bile duct. If you weren't getting enough bile acid through because of a stone blocking the bile duct, that would give you constipation. Just wondered if it might be worth chatting to your doctor about this.

Amitriptylene made my constipation much, much worse, which is a vety common side effect from taking it. Thinking about asking for different meds would possibly be a good place to start

I hate eating because I know it will be trapped wind or burning bowel or both!!

I hate eating. I think i am now developing an eating disorder and I also fear of sleeping, because I am scared of waking up in the middle of the night with pain.

This week has been very good. I have to say that I have:

. Stop eating glutten, dairy and wheat

. Started seeing an osteopath

. Stop eating lentils (my favorite)

I am not taking their amitriptyline but i have buscopan and lanzoprozole daily. So may be all this will keep the IBS at bay.

My visit at the osteopath was quite positive. I felt listened to. That makes a great difference to my sense of wealth.
