Hi everyone,

I have recently been prescribed the anti sickness medicine ( Ranitidine ) I was just wondering if anyone has suffered really bad side effects from it, or if it’s an easy medicine to take for the first few days, once your body gets used to it?

Hi,

I’ve taken it for many years but for heartburn. Not had any negative side effects from it that I can tell. And I usually react very badly to a lot of medicines.

Thankyou 😁 X

I've been taking ranitidine for several years to treat reflux and nausea (caused by another medication) with no side-effects.

Persevere with it for a couple of weeks or so and see if whatever side-effects you're experiencing settle down.

Hi I have recently just started taking it after having bad side effects from other medicines. I have been on it 2 and half weeks and I think it is helping fingers crossed. I have mild erosive gastritis as Well as ibs. It's a medicine which has been around a long time. I think you should try it hope it helps you 😊

Hi, I have IBS and acid reflux and had severe side effects from ranitidine. A couple of months ago my doctor prescribed to take 300 mg ranitidine per day to treat my acid reflux but I stopped after one months because it was too extreme. My side effects from ranitidine: insomnia, strong nausea, extreme fatigue, after 2-3 weeks shortness of breath (to a point that I couldn't walk), gum bleeding, dry/ thin hair, confusion, occasionally blurred vision. My side effects all listed as 'very rare' and it took me about months to get back to normal. Blood tests etc after I went to the doctor again came all back normal. My side effects are hopefully rare and I read that a lot of people are doing well with ranitidine. However I was surprised to find out that a colleague at work had similar severe side effects from ranitidine AND he also has IBS and acid reflux.

Oh right ok, well I’m Ranitidine. But I sometimes can still taste the acidic taste in my mouth and still suffer from nausea. But sorry to hear about those severe side effects. I bet it was awful ☹️
