For 7 years having problems with severe slow transit, been on liquid diet for 5 years. Problem is when I try to eat i can feel the food struggling to travel up my right side!! With severe pain.

Doesn't help that my crohns has not responded to all treatment s.&Have ulcers and immflamation they are trying me on vedolizumab, the fact I even had a stoma which blocked all the time no-one will give me a proper answer.

Does anyone feel this happening in their intestines?

Hi feisty girl - what liquid diet are you on? Is it from foods you prepare yourself or a supplement prescribed? You sound so poorly.

I had IBS which was linked to food intolerances. It was so bad I had more than 7 attacks of the runs a day - when I changed my diet to exclude the food intolerances I have been able to get my life back. If the prescribed liquid supplement contains wheat, barley rye rice egg, dairy - these can be multi food intolerances. I have all of these so without changing my diet radically, I would be in a progressively worse situation.

I am going to look up the liquid to see what the ingredients are. This might be a reason if the supplement has not helped your problem. As for the chemotherapy - I have no idea what this is. I will look it up on drugs.com. I have no medical qualifications but a persevering mind which might help you find clues to your problem.

Hi feisty - girl as the module IBD is 100 percent casein based, this is a milk protein and I guess you are like me and have a milk allergy, You can have food intolerance tests through the hospital and as you have had IBS for so long and it has deteriorated into crohns - you should have multi food intolerance tests as soon as possible.

I can tell you two recommended sources of where to get them privately. The test I had covered 64 foods it was a new smart test from Germany and cost £70 through a chain of pharmacies up and down the country. You can ask your practice manager for food intolerance tests, as the module has got dairy protein and other substances to which you may be allergic. \Take care.

Hi thanks yes they chose modulen for me as have lacto free milk only thing that agreed with me I have IBS and crohns disease and endometriosis, fybromalgia, asthma,my children all allergic to many foods as children. Food in general just struggles to travel through my bowel even lacto free yogurt, porridge, potato mash, bread, soup, fruit, avocado, these food I have tried so far in last year!!but certainly worth getting allergy testing done .I'm sorry you have had such a rotten time with your IBS I hope that by having the allergy testing it's getting easier .

Lactose free is still dairy. As your supplement is casein with corn oil, (maize)

you may have allergy to casein milk protein and grain. If you have not had a dairy t and grain tesst - these are potential allergens. suzycohen.com pharmacist explains in her article on Genes and Histamines in food, that these allergens overload your system with histamine response which starts with inflammation.

You can help your gut by removal of the histamines. Some specialists say to re introduce an allergen such as gluten but this can lead to distressing symptoms to the person with a particular allergen. I cut out every indicated allergen and it helped within a few days. Isabella Wentz pharmacist is another reputed expert on autoimmune disease. She has articles on the net. As you have several autoimmune diseases including fibromyalgia - gluten dairy egg and multi grain may be other culprits.

The product you are taking is milk based, with milk protein casein and your symptoms are worse after taking it - it may be making it worse!

multiallergyhelp.com/less-c... oat rye barley grain- shows some grain allergies. gluten.org/resources (Celiac Disease & Anaemia) has articles on celiac disease. Gluten can affect the thyroid and the colon. This can start over a period of years before the symptoms start.

As you have a slow digestion, with pain on the right side, this may indicate the milk, and milk fat, as well as the maize in the corn oil, may be triggering your symptoms.

I can eat root vegetables potato, swede, carrot, and other green vegetables leeks broccoli - which can be liquidised and made into a nourishing soup. I can eat a chicken stock based soup, with vegetables which give natural carbs and vitamins and minerals. I can drink hot chocolate made with chocolate powder with no additives, with other milk - almond, coconut, soy and honey or demerara sugar. As I am diabetic I have to watch my sugar and carb intake. As you know most of the allergens you have, you might add others to rule out of your diet. This is a bit of a ramble. Wish you all the best.

I have just started to visit a chinese herbal and acupuncture doctor who helps with asthma, allergies and many similar things.

If you look up the drug you are taking, on drugs.com you can see it is used for

ulcerative colitis and for Chrones' disease.

Some people can contract a virus affecting their brain whilst on this drug. It does have other side effects. You can look at this drug to see if you have noticed any side effects yourself. I live in the UK so I can't recommend how you get your tests done. if you live in the US. Do you get checks under your health care insurance for celiac disease? Expect so. You just have to go back to your doctor and say you believe you have food intolerances especially dairy as casein is your liquid supplement and you need them done. Corn oil is made from maize. Sucrose converts to sugar in the liver. Glucose is sugar. These are all possible allergens. I can only tell you I have wheat maize barley rye rice food intolerances egg dairy and banana.

Barley is found in malt products.

I also have other allergies - such as ammonia, chlorine bleach, sprays for cleaning with P or information indicating reactions to eyes or skin. Sure you will get a diet sheet from your nutritionist to help you when you have had intolerance tests. It could help your condition.

Not a very detailed reply in comparison to other responses here but try and stop taking the vitamin D if youre on a high dose. I think in right in saying that can cause constipation alone. Best of luck with sorting it out
