Hi group. I began having IBS a few years ago. Was diagnosed with gallstones and had my gallbladder removed, but my symptoms remained-- bloating, distention, gas, constipation and diarrhea. I have had a colonoscopy and EGD, both unremarkable. I do not have celiac disease. I'm on a very restrictive diet, since I am worried to eat too much fat or fibre. I am taking phayzme (simethicone) daily to help with gas.
Should I be asking for additional testing? SIBO? Candida? Food sensitivities? Are these tests reliable?
Thank you for your help.

Hi, I'm no expert but I believe people who have not experienced IBS previously can get IBS type symptoms after having their gallbladder removed. Perhaps it might be worth speaking to your doctor about that? Maureen.
Firstly, you need to sue the idiot that removed your gallbladder. I'm being serious. Gallstones (and kidney stones) are caused by a diet too high in carbohydrates. What does your restrictive diet consist of? Details, details, it's all in the details. Don't leave anything out. I'll be waiting.
I had nightly disturbances of waking with watery diorrhea leaking from me, I had a nuclear scan where I took a pill returned an hour or so later had an abdominal scan, then returned 5 days to a week later had a further scan, they discovered I had a bile malabsorption. I too have gallstones, but after this discovery was put on 1 sachet of questran a day and I don't wake with a leaking rear end any longer. I was still having tummy upsets in the day, but earlier this year discovered I had bone marrow and blood cancer, I've had my first cycle of chemotherapy and had no real bad nausea or sickness and been constipated the makority of the time. Not wanting to frighten you with my diagnosis, but it is worth getting other investigations as it could be a result of a different problem, your body works in fine balance and if for some reason is out of balance due to unrelated illness, it can affect the gut, hope you find your answers x
