Anyone had SeCHAT test??

Got my appointment through and it's next Monday so just wondering what to expect really???

pajohns, Hubby had SEHCAT recently. At your first appointment you swallow the special capsule and then go back a week later for scan. He was in hospital for both events and I was with him apart from being in scanner room. He was fine. It is normally done as outpatient but events overtook this plan. He was being tested for BAM, it was negative. All I can say don’t worry.

Yes, I had a SehCAT scan and it discovered that my bile acid absorption rate was only 4%, whereas normal is over 15%. This was due to having had my gall bladder out forty years ago! Now take QUESTRAN (colestyramine) powder daily, and that dries up the acid that causes the diarrrhoea. If you want to know more go on to the Internet and that will help. Or there is quite a lot on this site (ibsnetwork). The scan itself is nothing to worry about and doesn't take long. You have two scans on the first visit and one a week later. Good luck!

Great drugs for chronic diarrhea now, Choleout!! I take Colestipol, and have taken Welchol, too. Liked the Colestipol better as it is less expensive. All of these drugs stop diarrhea in it's tracks...don't understand how come so many doctors don't let their patients try these!!!
