I suffer with IBS and in pain the last three days. I was diagnosed when I was 45 after a total hysterectomy. Now 14 years later It has become progressively worse over the years. I know that the tinest piece of chilli sets me off and I feel like someone has kicked me in my gut I am so bruised when Coughing and walking. I am sick and tired of going to the bathroom knowing that I will be there for quite a while. Absolutely no sleep last night and from my legs to my feet were burning last night. I am also extremely tired from all of the above and HAVE THE UTMOST sympathy for all sufferers. I wish someone would say take this and you will be alright. Dream on.

Hi erdrid, just wanted to say welcome to the community. I am a similar age to you (60) and have had IBS for over 30 years now. I too have found it has got worse over the years. Do you think it had anything to do with the hysterectomy? Maureen.

erdrid - Take either one of these and you will be alright: Welchol or Colestipol. (If you have diarrhea..I couldn't tell from your post.) These drugs are bile acid sequestrants and will stop diarrhea in it's tracks. They are also used in conjunction with statins and for Type II diabetes...neither of these I have. I cannot guarantee that these will work for you, but I would bet $$ that they will, actually. I had chronic diarrhea for years..having to come home from work many times because i couldn't make it to the bathroom and would soil myself! It was awful...I had no life..now I am fine! They work almost immediately! Keep me posted...

I have had IBS for 6 years. I have pain every day. I had a Hystrectomy in 2009. I am 61.
