Hi linette

Sorry to hear that you're having more issues with the linzess/Constella. I too am having issues with the drug. In fact I am not renewing my prescription. I found that it worked for a couple of months but now I am back to the same old issues. I wish I had something to say that could help you but I don't. I don't know if this normal for the medication or not but it is no longer working for me at all.

Thank you Mapleleaf17 for your posting. That is what l am scared of happening to me! l have so many problems trying to have a bowel movement! Linzess has helped and l do hope it will continue. But the cramping (spasms) have been unreal at times! Just do not understand this at all!

I also take Linzess, but I find it doesn’t always work the same way. If I take it on an empty stomach, I tend to get bloating and cramps and not always a bowel movement. If I take it too close to food, it works too much. My consultant said to give it a week’s break every 6 weeks, as it does stop working as well.

Do you take it in the morning half an hour before food? I sometimes take it in the evening as I work in the day.

I also take magnesium oxide or citrate about 800 - 1000mg at night on empty stomach with lots of water when I don’t take Linzess. This works well. Look up magnesium and constipation. There is also magnesium products for the colon called Oxypowder, Aerobic Mag 07 and Colosan. They work very well. You can find them on Amazon or a place called the Finchley clinic.

Thanks Pat1 for the information....I do take it 1/2 or 1 hour before my first meal. lm like you the bloating starts! Not always a good bowel movement sometimes either. l cannot stand the bloating and sometimes the spasms l do have at times! l felt like the linzess causes the bloating and l need to experiment too! I think linzess can be for me anyway harsh at times. l thought about using it every other day but didn't want to send linzess in a tale spin as you might say,,,, Thanks Pat1 for your reply! l just know l thought l had a gold mind with linzess because lm a constipated person with IBS.

Yeh wasnt good for me i gave up with it.

I try to do it all natural now after seeing a good gastro and dietician.

U got to have a healthy gut. So i take probiotics, digestive enzymes, vit c and d, magnesium tablets( make me regular as clockwork) and peppermint oil capsules.

I also take a tiny glug of lactulose solution before bed and loads of water...

I also try to eat lots of veg, no gluten as it make ur gut and colon lazy and hard to digest and no dairy.

I been doin this 8 months and my ibs is 90% better. I also lost a stone in weight. Result....

I found all the medicine and tablets just messed around with my liver and stomach so thought id try natural, worked for me

Oh i know, i have had it since i can remember!! Always been ibs c...

my mum always made joke about that i just would never go!! And ive never got any better.

I had tests for intolerances and it came back positive for gluten and dairy so gave up them and it slowly got better... for some reason gluten clogged me up??

It took about 2 months for the constant bellyache to go then about 5 to start going regularly.

Still have days though where im all over place go from c to d !

It a living nightmare sometimes... it a daily fight but hey it not serious just inconvenient and sometime painful .

How long u had it lynnett

Do to mind me asking wjere you got your gluten and dairy intolerance tests?

Wasn't only constipation/stomach grumbling /gas

I suffer with those day in day out,but nothing to the extent of what a go woukd call concerning (blood in stools, swollen stomach , vomiting)

I'm fed up of being told I don't fit a criteria when actually I know my body and something isn't right xx

I went to a bioresonance centre but i did have a idea as i knew after certain foods i was ill ie bread, weatabix, anything oaty, i would get crippling stomach pains plus could not poop.

I was suprised about cowsmilk though but as soon as i stopped drinking it i realised. I drink soya milk now.

Never eaten anything else dairy wise anyway.

My gastro explained that 60% of people with ibs symptoms are intolerant to something and mostly it is gluten or dairy so she tells everyone at first to give them up then reintroduce them but im happier off them.

I used to b crippled up at least once a week with stomach pain but now i havent been for 8 months, i used to poop once a week mayb less now it everyday! I was sluggish and brain foggy but now i got loadsa energy, plus i lost weight.

I also make sure my gut flora stays healthy and balanced ie probiotics digeative enzyme vit c and d.

Dont get me wrong it hard but it worth it and i do still get it , if i eat one thing my ibs comes straight back and i have to calm it all again which for me involves fasting for 24 hours then usually goes back to normal.

Will food have on it if it's glutin free?? l don't know lulububs l also lost 80 pounds in a year! Due to terriable spasm (pain) at night when l ate. For sometime now l am doing alot better and lm trying to eat more too! But all foods do not agree to my stomach! :( l tried eating corn because l love it and never bothered before. But l can tell you my stomach doesn't like it now!

Hi sorry just saw this! Wasnt ignoring u. Again i take holland and barratt 200mg high strength capsules one in morning before brekkie and one before big dinner. That way u wont get any trapped wind and it helps u digest.

I also take a digestive enzyme and probiotic and magnesium tablet.

Always keep a healthy gut.

Food wise is a bit of mindfield at first but now got it down to ritual. I eat mainly meat and veg, Load of spinach ,green beans , lighter green cabbages, carrotts, sweet pot, butternut sq. peas.

No brocoli cauliflower dark cabbage onions garlic!

All my foods gluten free. So me cereal, i just have free from morrison own range!

I never have dairy! I have soya milk.

Lunch will gluten free crumpets and soya butter. Mayb a naked bar. Then dinner meat and veg, free from pasta with pesto.

I dont even notice now i eat pretty normally.

Even my husband eats same he says he feels healthier!

Morrisons do all gluten free sausages and there lovely!!! I have them with sweet pot ..

it getting so good out there now.

I stay away from bread!!gluten free bread is disgusting and it still upsets me i think it yeast!

Try not to eat to much pre packed biscuits and cake gluten free as they stuff it with sugar!! To make it taste better ha ha!

80 pounds wow thats amazing. Hows ur ibs now? Mine is 85% better i still have days where something upsets me but dont know what

Hi Lulububs, I am also thinking of stopping the Linzess. I though it was going well. Now I am constantly bloated and feel like I have put on a few pounds. I also take magnesium. I take about 800mg of citrate or oxide at night on an empty stomach with lots of waster. Out of interest, which brand do you take and how much?

Lulububs profile image
Lulububs in reply to Pat1

Magnesium? I take the holland and barrett tablets. Think there 200mg and i take three through day before eat. It a case of hit and miss , try it out take two first then if that works stick to it... u dont want the opposite problem.

I also take a probiotic and a digestive

enzyme as my gastro talked alot about healthy gut. Alot of people have ibs( not all) because they have unhealthy gut bacteria, either they have intoletances they dont know they have or they have taken alot of antibiotics in there lives.

So u have to make it healthy.

Mine is controllable now coz i figured out dairy and gluten messed me up.

I hope this help u

That's alot of things to cut out of tour diet mind. I find the whole gluten and dairy free foods so expensive and very limited. It's something o would need to plan right as I've had an eating disorder in the past. Restricting to much could do more damage than good xx

Yes u must do whats right for you, i actually found it falsed me to become healthier, i dont eat pre packed or made gluten free , i prepare all my meals myself ie soups, salads. I eat veg everyday now whereas before i ate alot of junk and quick dinners.

I treat myself like anyone does with the occasional biscuit or a bit of cake but that it.

I have chosen to go plant based ( dairy wise) as u still get the vitamins.

My gut is the healthiest it been all my life, i suffered crippling pain sometimes( especially after pasta and breads) and i dont get stomach pain at all now. Only the occasional one when i go out to eat and somethings in the food my belly dont like.

I would never tell anyone to just do it but it worked for me by making me think about what i was putting in my stomach.

My fridge is just permanently stocked with fruit and veg not dinner with a ding anymore.

My cholesterol lowered! My sugar level is normal now, i lost over a stone, my acne gone and my pssoaris has cleared up.

It not about cutting out it about clean eating
