Is laxido effective.

For a couple of years I have used enema, full flush, to move my bowels - without the regular enema there would be no bowel movement, not even an indication of movement. In the past month I had an appointment with a specialist who in addition to arranging a colonoscopy (no date yet) prescribed Laxido (2sachets per day). Now entering the second week of using Laxido.

It has, to a limited degree had some effect - my bowels do move - cigarette shaped stools, and more often than not the stool is not fully passed. In addition I have bloating, gurgling and wind. And currently feel the initial effect is becoming less effective.

Has anyone experience with Laxido as a short, mid and long term medication? Be it good or bad theg you can share with me. Thank you

I use laxido 1 sachet every day, no problems with it in general, I suffer from IBSc and diverticulitis and when they play up badly I may try 2 sachets

I use Cosmocol which is similar to Laxido or Movicol. I also use lactulose, which I prefer, although it can take longer to work - both were originally prescribed by my consultant.

I also have to use an irrigation system everyday (which is sort of like an enema) to make sure I can completely empty. Not having complete bowel movements is a symptom of prolapse which is what I have.

Good luck. Maybe try lactulose if laxido isn’t so good for you - you can get lactulose without prescription.

Thanks you you for your comments Beezwax, do you now have daily bowel movements? And can you give more information on the irrigation system you use?

Thank you.

Irrigation systems were originally prescribed by the colorectal nurse at the hospital I attend but my GP renews the prescription when I need it - I mainly use the Qufora mini irrigation system but I also use the Peristeen irrigation system. You can find info, about them on their websites.

Mostly I have daily vowel movements.
