IBD OR IBS

Hi ,

I've suffered with severe ibs c and d for 15 years. I've had endless colonoscopies and scans but the last 2 years I've suffered a constant pain on the right side of my colon leading to my anus. Colonoscopy was clear, caloprectain was slightly raised but everything clear. No gallstones. Drs say it's ibs but it's extremely painful and all the time. My mum has crohns. Can anyone help me with what I can do? Thankyou

For the longest time i was convinced i had IBD as i seam to get a lot of the same symptoms . but like you ive had multiple tests and its still IBS. i get very bad pains and i take lots of Buscupan for it,

If your unsure or still in doubt though you should bring it up with your doc have some tests repeated, as i think things can be missed.

Thank-you, Just curious how did they diagnose your diverticulitis disease, did they miss it on the colonoscopy s before?

I've literally just went back and looked at my diagnosis and it says there "early DD". No one even told me, gotta see gp to get confirmed but one dr has confirmed that's what it means. I'm still slightly annoyed

I'm sorry that you are feeling so poorly. Have you ever thought about an elimination diet i.e. low FODMAPS? This is the route I am taking and I have been slowly but surely removing things from my diet and I seem to be improving. I haven't been on the diet properly as yet as I am waiting until I come back from holiday but then will start. I have so far removed Lactose although I met a friend for coffee today and forgot to take my own milk with me so we shall now see if I get a reaction, I am hoping not!!

I honestly think a lot of our symptoms are to do with diet and some with stress and I think that's what we need to get to the bottom of - pardon the pun!!

Very best of luck

Hi thankyou, I've literally been in fodmap for 3 days and I haven't had a flare. Still cheating some lactose in but not a lot. It's so time consuming

I'm glad you are on the FODMAP diet and you haven't had a flare. I agree that watching everything you eat is time consuming but boy it's worth it. Although I'm not on the diet fully as yet I have to say that I have been watching what I eat and agree it's hard but it's better than being ill.

Very best of luck to you and I really hope you continue to improve.

:)
