Hi all,

After years of suffering with IBS and getting various pelvic infections with it. I finally got my answers from a stool sample which my doctor had never suggested by the way. This was a nutritionist who helped me.

Wow I had some nasties in me. Numerous yeast infections in my intestinal lining and a gluten sensitivity! I urge you all to get this stool screen done. I am on my way to recovery but to be honest I have found cutting some on Gluten it hasn't made a difference. I get bloating from gluten free products still!

So far switching from cows milk to almond milk has helped. I take a strong probiotic from holland and Barrett called probiotic advanced and take Silocol gel everyday. It says to take one tablespoon a day but that never touched me and I don't have time to take it 3 times a day as on the road a lot. I take 2 tablespoons in the morning.

Any questions let me know! Hope this advice helps.

Wow like listening to me!!! I have had probs years, ibs and periods !! I actually got so fed up i went to a allergist and found out i was gluten and dairy intolerant!

Best money i spent.

Also had a candida problem as i had been kept given antibiotics by gp so gave up sugar for month and killed it.

Still sticking to it all and i feel so much better for it!

I am a great believer that most ibs is usually down to a intolerance

Yeah I had the candida. The nutritionist I had for free as it was to do with a documentary I was filming. She told me to order these candida gone tablets but they were like £20! I had some free from her at first which I took for 2 months. My issue is how do I know when the Candida has gone!? How did you know?

Well i felt soooo ill with it as the antibiotics had killed my stomach so i just started to feel better.

I still stick to a low sugar diet and take probiotics and dida tablets that kill candida. Just so it keeps my belly happy and i never get it again

So pleased for you! Just a quick question - how did you manage the sugar free diet? This worries me as literally everything has some kind of sugar in it. Are you still sugar free after the 30 days?

I went proper cold turkey which was a massive thing for me as i like my biscuits sweets and sweet cups of tea but i left the alergist and thought if ive just paid 80 quid to find out why im in pain then i need to do this...

I went on cytoplan which is what the allergist said was best as i am

Also gluten wheat and yeast intolerant( all because of antibiotics and candida) and they only do clean products nothing added brought there acidiphilus, gut enzyme and aloe vera inner leaf! I was already taking peppermint tea. Then i brought these tablet from holland

And barratt called "DIDA" , i cut out all yeast as it feeds candida and all sugar!!! All of it..... i literally lived on humous and crispbread and steamed veg and chicken.... for 6 weeks and when i went back i had lost a stone... result.... my nails my hair my face all looked glowing and the best thing was i had no gut pain. Which i have had ibs problems for a year due to antibiotics that gave me liver failure.

I have not looked back.I have sugar but hardly any and i still Choose to b gluten dairy and yeast free as my ibs symtoms

Do creep back if i dont. I also stick to the tablets Just not as Many as i did to start with Over those 6 weeks.

Good luck it hard but soooo worth it!! OH AND WHEN I WENT BACK

TO ALERGIST I HAD NO CANDIDA

Thanks. My problem is I'm extremely underweight due to my symptoms so losing more weight is the last thing I need! My gp has said cutting sugar completely can be dangerous so I'm torn. I'm also dairy intolerant and have lost more weight since cutting dairy out.

Yeah I have been on antibiotics so much in my life, I can't help but think that has something to do with it. I am going to on the hunt for some affordable Candida tablets. Thanks for sharing!

what test did you do?

Thank you

Just ask them to do a full screening of a stool sample. They test for everything Gastro related then.

Really pleased to hear this as I've just had a stools test done too. Likewise, never suggested by any of the numerous medical 'experts' I have seen, including a specialised consultant at the IBS unit in Manchester (supposedly the best there is). I do feel a bit nervous about the results as I'm worried they'll tell me I have to live on kale and water for the rest of my life...

Don't worry about the results. There is a range of alternative foods out for certain conditions. Don't worry you will have to live off Kale! Hehe. Good luck! Let us know the results ☺️

What was the test called? I'm seeing a dietician this week & could ask

claire_louise profile image
claire_louise in reply to Lisaclare

It's definitely worth asking a dietician but you may need to see a private nutritional therapist as they don't offer these sorts of tests on the nhs. I had a 3 day comprehensive stool analysis. They test for pretty much everything you can think of, including parasites, bacterial imbalances, yeast infections etc. Not cheap but worth it if you've exhausted all other options like me.
