Hi, I am new to the board. I have had IBS since my 20's (almost 46 now). I was able to figure out my triggers early on and haven't had any major flare ups in years. I have been taking probiotics prescribed by my doctor for several years that have helped tremendously. I also suffer from pretty severe anxiety and panic disorder though at the moment I am feeling pretty good when it comes to that. Over the last 2 months I have been experiencing abdominal cramping, bloating, belching and excessive gas. The gas is mainly at night when I am trying to sleep which prevents me from getting much rest. In the morning the gas/bloating is basically gone and I feel back to normal. I see a functional medicine doctor and she recently discovered that I am low on ferritin and says this is why I am having digestive issues and once I get this under control the digestive issues will go away. However, I saw my gastroenterologist yesterday and she did not agree. I am now scheduled for a colonoscopy to rule out cancer. I seriously do not think cancer is the issue and feel slightly annoyed that she has me so worked up about this. Anyone else suffer from gas pains mainly at night with IBS? I mainly suffer from IBS C. Are there any over the counter remedies for excessive gas? I've tried all the natural stuff, as well as Gas X, Phazyme, etc. nothing stops the gas.

Low ferritin and Digestive Issues. IBS?
Hi there, I also suffer with IBS C and put around a dessertspoon of organic Golden Linseed in a mug that is approximately filled to about a 3rd with water. I soak the seeds for 1/2 to an hour and then drink. It's fairly pleasant and I like actually biting on the seeds that are left. This works a treat and I take it once a day. The only time I stop is if something has disagreed with me and I end up with Diorrhea; I don't get this very often but did have it 2 nights ago and I'm sure it was what I ate and drank that upset my tummy.
I had another Colonoscopy last year and it went really well as the 2 day diet beforehand made me feel really well and then the day before the procedure you can only drink water and eat jellied sweets, not red ones, and then I had the procedure which went really well - never felt so relaxed. I think that taking the Picolax (that is what I had to take to clear the bowels out) made me feel really well as it cleared my system out.
I felt well for about a week after the procedure.
All the very best.
