My IBS has been playing up now for nearly 3 weeks. Everyday. I've had a few days normally but never 3 weeks. I'm taking meverebine and buscopan they ease the pain but obviously they aren't meant to stop the diarrehea, I worry about taking Imodium incase my bowel gets dependent! I'm just really struggling with it at the minute. Plus when I'm at work I have to walk quite far to the toilet so I seem to be constantly walking to and from there! Sorry to moan just needed to get it off my chest because it's really getting me down.

I think if you took immodium for a while it might calm things down, you can always stop them. I would think that you would need to take a lot for a long time to become dependent. It seems to me that the alternative is just continuing to suffer. It cannot be easy going back and forwards to the loo and maybe embarrassing if others see you keep going.
I had similar issues years ago when I worked and it was awful , I can relate to how you feel, it eventually contributed to stress and early retirement in my case. Perhaps you are not that bad but just think, - you need to break the cycle and Immodium might help. You can research the likelihood of dependence or ask your doctor.
Hope this is of some help and that you get some relief from your IBS symptoms.

Are you able to tolerate dairy I.e. do you know if you are Lactose intolerant? Reason for asking is that you can get the same symptoms if you cannot tolerate Lactose.
Just a thought.
