I've just been diagnosed with ibs. Can anyone give advice on the best way to identify a food intolerance? How long do i need to eliminate something and do i give up food groups such as dairy and wheat or just single items. Thanks for any help

Hi

Your best option is to ask to see a dietitian if your thinking of doing an elimination diet correctly! I had to do this for 4 weeks and gradually reintroduce food! I had a booklet given to me to follow including a diary.

You need to really check every pack or can for the main ingredients like gluten or dairy as they can be in anything!! I made the mistake thinking rice crispies where okay for breakfast - contain gluten - as does a lot of packaged meat.

Good luck

Hi there I have a condition that was labeled ibs, but it was a condition that causes me not to be able to eat any carbs. Hopefully my treatment will eventually enable me to eat them again.

Hi there!

I have written a detailed post on the subject that may help you: sickofibs.com/ibs-triggers/...
