Felt ill throughout childhood

Hi. I've been constipated for 6 months now, along with swollen glands in my neck, fatigue, and the veins in my extremities are becoming visible, for example I can see a lot of the veins in the palms of my hands.

I think I have POTS disorder, as when I stand up my feet and legs turn a blue colour, and I get a bit lightheaded.

When I was younger I always felt a sort of malaise and I had some minor ailments, like I always used to overheat a lot and feel faint. And some stomach problems, just pain and bad trapped wind. Now I'm 16 and I'm really. Constipated.

What is this? I've been to doctor and he said it's just IBS but passed the rest of it off as nothing. Please help ;(

Hi could you see another GP or/and its your right to ask for a second opinion-CONSULTANT !

I have found that to get anywere you have to grit your teeth and pester GPs; consultants are SOOOO MUCH better.

Are you allowed to eat fruit-plums are very good, tins of prunes work like a dream.

have you ever meen to hospital with this _they would help you.Sometimes its just best to go to casualty and tell them

Very Best Wishes PS do keep me posted

Magnesium can really help with constipation, and fatigue (depending what it is caused by): sickofibs.com/ibs-symptoms/...

POT looks like a circulatory version of IBS in that doctors see the symptoms but don't really know the cause.

I too felt ill most of my childhood and didn't really know why. The bad trapped wind and stomach problems may be showing signs of bacterial overgrowth. Look at your diet. If, like most people, you consume lots of shop-bought processed foods and sugars, then these may have caused an imbalance. More here on bacterial imbalance:

Seriously look at how you are dealing with stress too. It is part of our lives, but we can distance ourselves from it: sickofibs.com/well-being/a-...

Hope this helps,

Yes I think it may be a bacterial overgrowth because I eat really unhealthily, I'm just wondering wether this may be something like SIBO, or a less serious bacterial overgrowth.

It could be Candida. If you have a look at the symptoms in the article you may be able to tell: sickofibs.com/ibs-symptoms/...

I'm not really sure what to believe about candida, some people say that it only occurs In immuno-compromised people

in reply to Dylan2000

Candida comes about when there is imbalance in gut bacteria, which in turn creates its own problems. Bad digestion means that you do not absorb the nutrients in the food you eat as well as you could. This can cause you to get ill more easily over time (if nothing else is going on like leaky gut). I had Candida for years without realizing it, and it amplified bloating and digestive problems.

Please look up Mast Cell Activation Disorder. It is a newly described array of symptoms, a bit different in everyone, and not at all rare. It causes intemittent weakness, vaguely feeling unwell, flushing, abdominal pain, and a whole host of other things. I just suggest this as you describe yourself as feeling malaise all your life.

Good luck.
