I'm new here and I suffer from ibs . My stomach gets more bloated as the day goes on and I suffer from trapped wind . Is there anything I can do or take to ease this ? Thankyou for any help you can give me

Hi, I have the same problem daily. Try windeze, a hot water bottle or tummy massage. I know how painful it can be and embarrassing when it starts to come out but a relief too. It's my daily problem so I know how you feel and my tummy swells up too and gets hard and uncomfortable. Hope my ideas help a bit x

Morning,

I found activated charcoal pills help . However you need to take them two hours away from other medication and supplements cause they affect their absorption.

Also look into the low FODMAP diet.

In my case I had to go

Dairy free

Gluten free

And avoid garlic, onions, tomatoes and cruciferous vegetables as well as sugar substitutes ( sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol etc... )

Once you figure out what is causing the wind it will help massively. I was (eventually) referred to an NHS dietician who was able to look at my food plan and work out what was causing it. I am very similar to Lamloum, my triggers are: cruciferous veg, lentils/pulses, onion, wheat (not all gluten), dairy, sorbitol and xylitol.

I do still get gassy even after having given all this stuff up and I swear by peppermint tea, as well as Simethicone (this is the active ingredient in things like Windeeze), hot water bottles and tummy massages like Willow mentioned.

Hi, I've just started taking peppermint oil capsules for my gas and definitely seems to make a difference - just get them from health food shops, well worth a try
