Has anyone had much luck following a low fiber diet? Say from this:

I would be interested to hear any results and if you reintroduced any foods also.

Thanks

Keep to soluble fibre

No raw fruit and veg

No pulses,seeds or nuts

I have to say that I agree with Maggie as I tried a low fibre diet (I had much less choice of food on the one I found on the internet - mine was an NHS one as well) and started to re-introduce other foods at the beginning of last week, not a good result. I had sweetcorn, which I love, for 2 nights - my stomach was awful after that so haven't eaten anymore since. I had wholemeal bread for the first week, still suffered so not eaten that. I have been eating peas this week, still suffering, so think it must be those.

All I can say is 'I give up'! I love fruit and vegetables but can't tolerate much of that food at all so am looking for a comprehensive list of soluable fibre foods but unfortunately different websites conflict with each other on what you can eat (I have been eating a lot more of the root vegetables i.e. sweet potato/parsnips). Would be good if the medical services would help people more with IBS, I don't think they realise what a debilitating illness it is.

Best of luck.

I wonder if it is the fact that sweetcorn, peas and wholemeal bread are all high FODMAP foods which is upsetting you rather than the fibre? There are plenty of other low FODMAP vegetables to try - carrots, courgettes, green beans, butternut squash, tomatoes, spinach for instance which will provide fibre.

Thank you and I have cut out the sweetcorn and wholemeal bread and will also cut out the peas - so difficult when you love those foods. Would be much easier if all I liked to eat was rubbish. I have been eating sweet potatoes, which I absolutely love and would much rather eat them than normal potatoes and they are a lower GI food. I brought some butternut squash today (the supermarket didn't have any last week); I have also been eating carrots, unfortunately I do not like spinach.

I am also going to try an elimination diet i.e. eliminate dairy, I know that will be hard but it has to be done if you want to try and make yourself better. I know someone on here went on an elimination diet and cured herself so I am going to give it a try. What works for one doesn't always work for the other but it's certainly worth a try.

Hope all's good with you.
