Make sure they give you a decent amount of sedation, good luck.

Don't be afraid. I'm not speaking from personal experience but both my Mum and sister have had one and they both said the whole worry about having to have it was far worse than the actual procedure. You will be well looked after by professionals who have seen it all before and apparently it is all very discreet with a towel to cover you and protect your modesty. And at the end it will be worth it as you will have a better idea of what's going on.

Best wishes for tomorrow - I hope someone else who has been through it also answers to reassure you better than I can. X

You can put a drop of orange squash in it to drink, helps take the taste away.

Drinking the prep was awful. Take the sedation they offer you. Most people I know that had one said it was fine but mine was very tricky as my bowel was very long and loopy. They had to stop in the end as I had such bad constipation the prep hadn't fully cleared my bowel and they couldn't get round all the loops without me being in to much pain. I have since had 1/3 of my bowel removed so if I had another one it would probably be fine. Best of luck and let us know how it goes X

Bon courage this morning! Have anaesthetic if offered and get some nappy cream if sore!

I know that feeling. Also once your passing near enough clear liquid that usually means it's done so wouldn't take any more. I hope it all goes ok, the prep is by far the worst bit!

You'll be fine. I had one a month ago and other than a mild bit of discomfort when they go around the bends it went OK. It's rather fascinating watching the footage from the camera on the screen.

Hi

I feel for you having had a colonoscopy myself 5 years ago . I had the dreaded Picolax to take at first i thought it wasn't going to work but it did.TMIF but thank goodness for vaseline , I had a bottom like a Baboons Bottom!! The whole thing wasn't fun but it turned out not as bad experience as i thought. The thought and the tales told were much worse than the reality. The staff were very sweet and understood how scared i was, they are so used to seeing and performing the procedure they couldn't have been any more kinder. I chose not to be sedated as i just wanted to get it over with and not feel groggy afterwards. I kept telling myself that it was only a small window of time in my life and that it would pass & that I needed to get through that time so I get some answers and deal with whatever the result was having had major scare . It turned out to be a bad attack of IBS C rather than the D i usually suffer with. But it was bad enough for the doctors and scan team to see me urgently it scared the life out of me. But now I know what I have I have tried to tailor my life around it not always successfully but most of the time & the colonoscopy is distinct but distant memory. By this time tomorrow it will all be over and you will be the other side of it. I wish you well xxx
