Peppermint oil capsules

Hiya has anyone had a bad reaction to these? I started  taking them yesterday and today have had the most awful diarrhoea. I was taking them to help with trapped wind etc. I just wouldn't have thought they would upset my stomach like that. They are the 50mg.

Are they Colpermin by any chance? I kept hearing good things about peppermint oil capsules but when I bought these I found they gave me more D than I was already experiencing. Both times I've taken them I've had loose movements the following day so I've given up with them now.

I'm always a bit wary of things that claim to cure both constipation AND diarrhea - after all the two things are opposites.

Yes, I had a bad reaction to them as well - wouldn't ever take them again!

Hi Peppermint capsules are not for everyone, if they are making you worse, stop taking them.

Yes, I found peppermint oil caused more problems. I rely heavily on simethicone, preferably WindSetlers but also Windeze. I could not live without them. Have to search for shops which have them at discount price because I need so many.

I like you find peppermint oil causes more problems & that windeze can make a real difference, particularly if I am going 'out for food' where lets face it, lying on the floor clutching my tummy in agony or having wind aren't acceptable!

Notice Colmperin have peanut oil in them, so no good for nut allergy sufferers or if u are avoiding nuts.

I have had problems with Peppermint capsules and Bgard, peppermint tea causes acid reflex.   I hope it works for you.

I think peppermint oil is meant to be quite intense and it is better to drink a soothing peppermint tea as it is weaker but still has an immediate and lasting effect in my opinion

I have found they need to be enteric coated - to help to bypass the stomach and get into the gut

I have used these with less side effects

Tried enteric coated IB Gard and developed nausea and no decrease in bloating.

I've taken Peppermint oil capsules from Holland and Barrett for years. I took the 200mg tablet every morning as that's what they recommended. To be honest I don't know what they actually offered me in a way of helping my IBS-d. I think mentally because I was taking it it gave me peace of mind but i can't say they actually did anything of merit.

My Mrs would complain that she could always smell the Peppermint on my breath or even after I had a wee!

Today is the first day I've stopped taking them as I am now entering a wheat free diet to see how I get on.

I will always keep some nearby in case I do completely lose my nerve.

Just thought I'd share my experience with everyone.

I can't take them either. But peppermint tea helps loads!! Just make sure ur at home when you drink it as you pee every 10 minutes. But it helps soothe your tummy loads.

I have to take pepermint capsules one hour before a meal and black tea after the meal....very important for me to have it in this order. The black tea kilss my diarrhea and I don't know why! I can always smell the pepermint when it starts to digest. Win win. Hope this helps.
