Has anyone taken Zantac for IBS and if so did it help with symptoms particularly pain, bloating and loud rumbling noises.

I took zantac for a while, but didn't help with the pain in intestines. Instead, I take some natural herbs, like peppermint oil capsules 2 times a day before meal and it helped me very well. I also take psyllium husk powder with warm water at night before going to bed, which helps to clear the colon and minimize the abdominal pain.

I have been on Ranitidine for a week prescribed by my GP now after a major flare up of indigestion and pain which left me feeling worse than I ever have. I have been having problems since my mother died earlier this year which was probably why things are worse. Then I ate tomatoes a couple of days running and that seems to have pushed it over the edge. I was feeling really sore right across my abdomen and really unwell and have had intermittent sudden diarrhoea with this. The Ranitidine has made a big difference to the pain, although only slowly. I have been on 300 mg at night and the GP has said take it for 30 days. Stomach acid does seem to be the issue. I have a blood test on Friday, I haven't had any other tests yet this time, my last colonoscopy was about 4 years ago but I did the pooh test a year ago. I have had IBS for about 25 years but never like this. I expect if things don't improve when I stop the Ranitidine I will have more tests. I am also taking Colofac 3 X day before meals at the moment. I feel a lot better now so I do think it's worth a try but best to see your GP first. They can prescribe the right dose.

Zantac is like antihistamine ,mainly for gastritis as it stops over product ion of acid.Have been on it for years and vary the dose,if you are on NSAIDS OR Steroids Higher dose is best

I have used this but with no effect. Now on meberine and esomeprezole with limited effect. I'm going to try the anti histamine by hats been mentioned. Worth a try and seems to get really good feedback X

Yes, I was taking it every day until the recall in Canada/USA and it worked really well for me. It controlled the gas and bowel movements. I was able to eat foods I couldn't before. Loud rumbling noises were gone.
