This is something I'l like to know too.

Since going onto a low fibre diet my bowels have been a lot better, but I still have a little soreness. It would be great to discover it was a few items we could eliminate from our diet and then be free from discomfort.

Hi

I paid to have a test which came back positive for intolerances to dairy (which is something I'd cut out previously) as well as a yeast, barley and malt too. I've had IBS since my early teens and now I'm nearly 30. I thought maybe doing this test would be a way to 'fix' my increasing symptoms. I cut out the foods listed, which was really hard, dairy I was used to as I had cut that out before but the other things were really difficult alas you'd be surprised how often yeast and vinegar are in so many things. Initially I felt much better, people even commented on how well I looked. I even lost 5lb straight away. I've eliminated them from my diet for nearly a year now and I'd like to say it's solved my symptoms but unfortunately it hasn't. Recently my symptoms have become a lot worse and more varied. I actually think the reason I felt so much better to start with was because I was forced to ditch huge quantities of processed foods which contained these foods. Things that I ate all the time. Over the last year I've discovered more and more things that I'm able to eat which don't contain these foods, including more processed foods. So although I was really pleased initially (and am actually happy that it confirmed I should have been cutting out dairy like I had years ago). In terms of IBS I don't know whether I think it's worth it or not. I think what helped the most was eating 'cleaner', so less processed and sugary foods.

Hi Graham, have you seen the BBC website today? Go to the latest stories page & scroll down to Health. They mention food intolerance testing. I was going to do the York test but I think not now. It's a shame as I was hoping to get an answer :(
