That's a tough call since it's different for everybody. But if you're planning on doing an elimination diet, I'd personally go extreme. I didn't eliminate enough stuff the first couple times around, and it just results in re-doing an elimination diet.

The FODMAPS diet worked really well for me, but I was still having issues. I would consider that one, but also eliminate anything you have an inkling that might be bugging you - even if it's FODMAPS okay. An example is corn. It was okay on the FODMAPS but I've found it wrecks havoc on my guts. Now I want to redo the elimination with corn excluded as well.

I hope you find the diary useful. I thought it was a really worthwhile exercise. If you have a smartphone, there are cheap aps you can get to store your food intake and diary symptoms. I found that much easier than writing it down at the end of a day.

Thank you

I cut out gluten and lactose and followed the Fodmaps 'green' traffic light foods only for a month. I then carefully added in food again in line with FODMAPS. There is an app which is excellent to start with and also explains how to go about doing it all with a very full list of foods separated into traffic light system colours so easy to follow. it comes from the Monash university where FOdmaps diet originated and cost I think about £6.90. Good luck.

I would cut out yeast refined sugar and processed food for 6 weeks . Then review

To start a diary you need to write down everything you eat with times and also bowel movements - start now with what you are eating at the moment

If you want to start eliminating foods either start the FODMAP diet ( which I don't do) or eliminate one food group at a time, say all dairy products - keeping the diary going - this will let you see if there are any changes. If you've had a test to see if you are coeliac and this was negative you could still be wheat intolerant

Hi, different things upset different tums. Personally white bread, sweetcorn and pizza are my real no no'! But in general you hear milk products, wheat products and many citrus fruits are causing many people problems. try eliminating one food group at a time for a month e.g. go gluten free and then try another food group until you find your particular problem food.

First of all you might want to start with cleansing the gut from toxins. If it is IBS-Diarrhoea, then it can be intestinal non-allergenic adsorbent, like Enterosgel.
