How long is your treatment 6 or 9 months?

Six months x

I was in contact with my uncle in 1945/6. I was born 1940. The authorities thought that tb was gone after the 50ties but it was not. I got a private Quantiferon Gold test which was positive but that does not confirm TB.

I was told after three CT scans with contrast that my lung fields were absolutly clear when they could not have been clear because in 2021 I was told by an infectious disease doctor that my lungs still showed calcifications.

I do not trust certain results from certain doctors. I do not know why these results are being submitted to me. It is always wise to get second and even theird opinions because that is what these doctors have = opinions.

For instance, I was told a Quantiferon Gold test I had in early March was Negative and an identical test I paid for May was positive. What is disconcerting is that the doctor who returned a negative test criticised my positive test of 2016. The doctor of May positive test said the positive result was expected so why did the doctor who returned the negative test suggest that the 2016 test was debatable?

I am considering my position re the negative result of March. I cannot see for the life of me why the disconcerting facts exist. Perhaps an investigation is valid in my circumstances.

It is very difficult to confirm absolute facts re TB. I have felt for many years that all and sundry do not have the incentive to get to the nitty gritty with my symptoms and have seen another person on this forum a long time ago say the same as I.

Something is wrong with the system. It is too fragmented for a start. Why is it in Reading there are walk in TB centres but in nearly all other UK counties referral is required.

I notice Spire hospitals are stipulating that a person must have a referral from a doctor to even get a Quantiferon blood test. That is totally wrong and should not be acceptable in the UK. No Way Hosea.

Hi 87wise, I'm sorry that you haven't got the all clear yet this must be a worrying time. It does sound like your doctor is doing a good job by taking the time to make sure you are completely clear though. The advice sounds sensible to me. Hopefully in just a few weeks time you will have the all clear and you will be able to get on with your life free from TB.Best wishes,

Helen
