What should I expect if they have to do a trach on my husband?
My husband has been on a ventilator for 7 days due to Covid. He was able to reach a PEEP of 5 and FIO2 of 40% with his O2 saturation remaining in the 90's. The doctor said he is strong and his lungs even seem to be fairly strong. They started weaning him from the sedation (Fentanyl and Versed) two

Falling asleep
Hello! Just a question about napping really. Up until last week, our now 4 month 1week old Bubba needed to be rocked to sleep for naps as he would cry from tiredness. However, miraculously he fell asleep on his bouncy chair where ordinarily he would cry in it when tired. I took this as a cue and put

Nature Throid from international online pharmacy
I have moved to France from 4 years in Croatia. My new doctor informs me it is illegal to give me prescription for my desiccated thyroid medication, Nature-throid. I've searched online for international pharmacies, but evidently NT has been taken off the market in many countries. I may have to fly

Fodmap and dietician positive results so far
I have not posted for a while. I have IBS- C and got to a desperate stage in the summer where I was not coping. I have had 3 months of support from a dietician on line who is an IBS specialist. (I used my holiday money to pay). It has so far been a game-changer. I am off laxatives. I take an expensive

CR6 I just kept on running
It had been a few days since my last run, the knee was playing on my mind. Slept in and missed my usual morning spot before everybody else gets up, so had to trudge to the park in my full running gear in broad daylight, hundreds of cars etc.. Stuff that would have made me not go a few months back! Once

16 weeks - teething?
Hi, I'm new to this so hope I'm posting this right! My little boy will be 16 weeks old tomorrow. For the past few weeks he's been really chewing his hands and dribbling - we thought maybe it was the start of a long teething process, or maybe just normal baby development. Today when I was changing

Armour vs NP Thyroid
I moved over from levothyroxine & liothyronine to Armour around 15 years ago but then there were supply issues followed by increasing cost so I switched to Nature-Throid which has now been recalled. I do not have enough Nature-Throid left to last into the new year. I was planning to borrow some money

My short term partner doesn’t remember me after waking up from a 6 week coma
I was in a 4 month relationship with someone before they went into a 6 week medically induced coma following a TBI. Unfortunately only the next of kin are allowed to visit the patient. The NOK asked if they remembered me and they don’t remember me, or certainly not my name. I don’t know what to do, how

High ALT and GGT postpartum. Potential haemangioma
I am ten weeks postpartum. I was diagnosed with cholestasis in the last few weeks of pregnancy but my bile acids never exceeded 20. About four weeks postpartum I had some liver tests. My alt was 52. I had these repeated again and my alt is now 117 and ggt is 74. I had a liver scan at two weeks postpartum

Post concussion treatment guidelines.
Found this article for treatment of post concussion syndrome (it would apply to mild to moderate stroke victims and other forms of BI too). It says the methods used currently (health service) are useless. The model highlighted is the typical American one which takes into account neck injuries, vestibular

Consolidation run no 5
So I decided to go out this morning and try to run the full 5km after getting 4km+ under my belt. What a lovely morning. Frost of the cars 🚗 and coldest morning yet for me but great to see the sun 🌞 shine. I had to negotiate the children going to school, dog 🐶 walkers and lots of traffic on the

Canthoplasty ruined my face?
I had a canthoplasty with a mid face lift and eyebrow lift to support it 11 days ago. The results are horrible, to say the least. I know it’s still early days and I’m trying to be patient in the hope the everything starts looking more and more natural over the next month or two. Right now, I have a

The "C" word
Now we are in December it is time for the "C" word - Christmas! Since my injury 8 years ago, the whilst many of my feeling and emotions have returned, any joy for Christmas seems absent. It used to be a huge event lights on the outside of the house, decorations in every room - even the bathroom!

I never knew how to make friends
Friendships have enormous benefits for quality of life and health, and although I felt quite comfortable with my current situation - don't really have anyone to spend my birthday with, but I have an excuse - I moved abroad alone, started a new life, my coworkers all have families, so no strong ties there

My dads severe pain with a Tracheostomy.. he is a covid patient, anyone else experienced this??
My dad has been in ICU with covid for 32 days and came out of his coma 7 days ago. He is still paralysed and obviously can’t talk because of the tracheostomy but he is completely fully aware of his surroundings, understands absolutely everything that is asked of him. We managed to understand that

Fermenting fibre?! Weaning baby...
Hi! I found you on my everlasting search for answers! My 10 month old has always had issues. I’m breastfeeding so he gets some Covid antibodies, but we’re both dairy free, he’s having a reaction to eggs and has had severe reflux 🥺 We think the reflux is under control but he still wakes many many 😫
