Going to have an OPEN Unilateral Oopherectomy... what can I expect???
I recently was diagnosed with pelvic congestion, and underwent an embolization of the veins. I am 24, thin, and very healthy. I have a daughter who is two. I have had a loooong history of ovarian cysts (3 required surgery, 5 hospitalizations). So the embolization was done about 8 weeks ago, and needless

Hi ladies, I am trying to work out which hysterectomy I should go for, and would like to know your experiences/advice on whether the menopause caused by ovary removal is worse/same/better than a zoladex enduced menopause? Many thanks Noggsxxx

Seen by haematologist - no further forward at moment
Hi everyone thanks for your help with preparing for appointment - I was well armed when I saw haematologist today. Not got much further really. Apparently when I was pregnant/having miscarriages (2004)they did 2 tests, but only told me about one. One test positive for lupus anti-coagulant, one negative

Have you had a hysterectomy and did you keep/not keep your ovaries?
Hi ladies, I am in the consultation process of having a hysterectomy. The question is though do I or do I not keep my ovaries? I lean towards them being taken out as I am on zoladex, and stopped hrt due to pains coming back - so in essence if they are taken out and I take a calcium supplement, this

Is it ok to use St Johns Wort?
Hi Have been feeling a little bit down lately and thought that rather than go to my GP i would take some St Johns Wort. I picked up some today from Superdrug. There is no leaflet in it or information on the back of the packet which would make me think that this isnt safe for me given the specific drugs

I am looking to find out any information from anyone who has experienced removal of ovaries pre menopause?
I ‘m 42 with a history of endometriosis and fibroids and a Mother who died from OC aged 57 (diagnosed at 46). I have just had my annual ovarian screening and am awaiting an appointment with a consultant after another potential fibroid has been found, it’s blocking the view of my left ovary so the sonographer

Any tips for dealing with fatigue associated with surgical menopause?
I seem to be really, really tired most of the time (not even a strong cuppa wakes me up!) and I'm suspecting it's the surgical menopause. (I can't have HRT as my tumours were strongly oestrogen receptive). My gynaecologist gave me a review paper to read from the Royal College of Gynaecologists/Obstetricians

Great Sunday Times Article Dec 09
This article came out recently in the Sunday Times - brilliantly written story: I was just 40 when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. That’s pretty unusual — only 15% of cases occur in women below the age of 50. It’s one of those diseases that’s completely unsexy. It lacks the trendy factor: we don

Natural Anti-depressants
Anyone have positive experience of taking natural anti-depressants.. Changed my thyroid meds a few times this year and became mildly depressed. Tried St Johns Wort with some result, gone on to Prozac for a few weeks which has stopped it, but have side affects. Love to hear of a natural product that works

Ovacome launch Young Ovarian Cancer Support Network
Hi everyone. I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Kerry, I was 37 when I was eventually diagnosed last year. I finished treatment (surgery and chemo) in February 2010. After treatment ended I was relieved on the one hand but on the other, I felt as though I'd been cast adrift in the ocean, with no prior
