Snow Queen... ha ha ha...
Snow Queen was a hard one to come up with living on the east coast. The weather has been beautiful, but I'm not looking forward to the frigid weather. My semester is done. I received an A in my class which is great, butI wish I had learned more. All my fault. I did the assignments but I didn't let it

Hello I have been reading some old posts about this medication and ckd. Is it really dangerous to take. My gfr is 21 and I need to keep it stable. I suffer with insomnia and it helps me sleep at 100mg per dose. I also take quietepine 50mg and diazepam 8mg per dose Added into that mix is mirtazepine

hospital visit
Have I done the right thing and is ignorance bliss with this vile illness. I have gfr of 21 but everything else seems to be ok. The private consultant was very good and explained everything well. He did say though that if your gfr goes below 20 you could be talking about dialysis so now I am terrified

The Kidney Project
Today I wanted to post in one of the biggest CKD Facebook groups about The Kidney Project. I pointed out that the project is barely advancing due to the lack of sufficient funding and support. So, the government should be persuaded to fund the project. Even 1 percent of annual dialysis expenditure from

A fun night in the hospital
Yesterday I went and had my labs done. I did not get them back, so I had no idea of what was happening. At 6pm, I get a call from the on-call doctor from the nephrology practice I use. I could barely understand his English and he had a screaming child behind him as he was calling from home. He ordered

Father not waking up after septic shock
My beloved Dad (72) survived a severe septic shock. They called us 3 Weeks ago after a routine bile surgery and told us that he is now in the ICU. They told us he had internal bleeding and they needed to perform surgery on him. We were shocked and prayed that night that everything would go well. He survived

Living vs. Deceased Donor?
I live in CO and the kidney wait for me is 7 years long : ((( I have been on dialysis for 2 years. I am pursuing a living donor. Any feedback would be so appreciated regarding how to find one. Also, the facts seems to say that a living donor kidney on average lasts 20 years vs. a deceased donor kidney

So sad
Today I lost my first friend at dialysis. He was a charming gentleman who always made me laugh. We engaged in friendly conversations before and after dialysis. He came in slumped in his wheelchair not wanting to talk. I found out later that he died on his way home from dialysis. This makes me sad

Peritoneal dialysis and Neck pain at night during exchanges ……any help? Asking for my mother
Reaching out to this expert community to see if anyone has any experience and advice so I can help my mother. She has been on peritoneal dialysis for about 3-4years. Her exchanges happen at night on machine (not manually). Most recently she has been dealing with pretty significant neck pain. That happens

Seeking feedback for a project
Hello everyone, I am working with a small team on a school project that we are very excited about. We are developing an app that will help people track food consumption and nutrients. GPA and RA or Fibromyalgia
I was diagnosed with C-Anca GPA in 2017. I went into remission in 2019. I was extremely sick for 4 months before being diagnosed and one of my symptoms was severe joint pain body wide. It caused kidney failure and I was on dialysis for about a year. My kidneys are now at 30%. Over the past 5 years, I

Dialysis Day very anxiety provoking
Good Morning, it is dialysis day once again. On top of all my mental health issues each treatment wreaks havoc on me both mentally and physically. I get very anxious sitting in center for four hours three times a week. I try to stay quite busy on my days off but it doesn’t help me with my days on

Nausea and dizziness CKD stage 3b no albuminuria
My 77 year old husband with CKD stage 3b who is otherwise healthy ( no CVD, controlled diabetes with HgA1c at 7.0%) got up this morning nauseous and dizzy. I helped him sit down, hydrated with water etc. His blood pressure has been stable 100/70 and his hemoglobin is 12.5g/dL. He has been on thyroxine
