Brother due a tracheostomy
So update is that my brother is due a
tracheostomy
but will have to be last in theatre as he is in a covid ward. Apparently one of the nurses slightly reduced his sedation and he was following her around the room with his eyes.

Our mum was doing well last week she was heading in the right direction and the doctors were even talking about doing a

Hospitalised for 15 weeks
I live in Brasil. After coughing up blood, and a Covid test at the leading hospital in RdJ for Covid, I was admitted on 1 Sept. I have been on Pred. for 10 years with GCA. My dose of Pred. was 5.5mgpd plus 50mg Azatioprina. Following my 2 Sinovac injections in Feb. and May last year I had a IMG/IMC test

How long to wait for a tracheotomy
Hello. So my brother has been weaned off sedation abit. However he has been becoming distressed- not surprising as he has a tube down his throat and the nurses have told him where he is. He is still not fully unsedated - his partner is struggling as she showed him a picture of their daughter but he was

Past the 3 week mark, small positives but no contact from any doctors or therapists, is that normal?
We have not spoken to anyone besides her nurse for over a week now, the last meeting told us about assessments going forward and them doing the
tracheostomy
but we have heard nothing since. Is this normal?

Removal of tracheostomy after 1 week but advised no further intensive care or ventilation in future?! So confused and scared
He said that they want to remove her
tracheostomy
and made a point of saying they are not withdrawing care but just withdrawing something that they feel she no longer needs. She has only had the trach in for 1 week and has been on a mask/swedish nose with it for the past 4 days.

New to this
Hi, Sorry If this reply to this post is too long First I would just like to say that my wife had a chronic needle phobia and would be the first to say she that she didn't help herself and others when trying to have blood taken, but after many attempts over some years no one seemed to listen to her

Day 18 since daughters global anoxic injury. I feel so lost. What do people do to stay strong and cope with the waiting?
She has been moved onto the long term icu unit and has been given a
tracheostomy
now which she handled well. They have said since the
tracheostomy
she has been on 25% oxygen and is as stable as can be currently.

Surviving Covid 19
Hi, in March 2020 I was admitted and placed in an induced coma due to COVID 19. I woke up three weeks later. Found myself with a tracheotomy, couldn’t talk, write or even walk. I remember seeing things, floating between two worlds. Delirium, hallucinations, nightmares, you name it. I also had memory

Anyone else have painful knee joints after prolonged ICU stay?
I spent a month in ICU and was intubated most of the time through a
tracheostomy
(due to double pneumonia caused by Legionnaire's Disease). I also spend a considerable amount of that time in an induced coma and had to relearn walking, hand movements, etc.

ICU COVID19 - cardiac arrest
She has been on ventilator for 13 days now and yesterday (day 12) she has had her
tracheostomy
done and she’s stable now and off sedation. Her lungs are recovering well but due to the cardiac arrest the doctor don’t know if there’s any brain damage. I’m terrified she won’t be able to wake up.
