Waking up from Induced come (with a trach) - seeking for advise and hopefully some encouragement....
Following my previous post (https://healthunlocked.com/icusteps/posts/138808902/in-need-of-some-encouragement-and-insight.-waking-up-from-coma-dealing-with-the-trach-etc...) I have a few more questions. A few days after being taken off sedation, Is it normal to have leaps in the consciousness level?

Tbi with craniotomy currently 3/52 post op are drs always right about prognosis
He received a craniotomy and approx 8 days later regained consciousness for about 12hrs he has been heavily sedated since this and he contracted a multi resistant chest infection whilst having a

My brothers in a coma/vegetative state from an OD and I’m losing my mind.
On June 17th, my brother was found unresponsive in a hotel room, having overdosed after being sober for 10 months. His drug of choice was alcohol but he ended up relapsing..this time turning to hard drugs trying to avoid alcohol and us knowing, and he laid for hours in that room alone with not enough

Help I'm sinking
His CO2 levels were too high and he had gotten pneumonia in one of his lungs. 5 more days went by after that and they tried to wean him off one more time only he failed ,so they basically cornered us and convinced us into giving him a

Within a week she was in the ICU on a ventilator and 100% support. She’s currently on day 10 on the ventilator and she had been improving. She got down to 50% support

Well after consultation I feel the best option is to move forward so we spoke with his father to allow for Tony to get his
tracheostomy
and peg. I’m so very nervous and hope everything goes well. I just want what is best I’m just very scared and nervous.

What is a PEG?
I was wondering if someone could explain what a PEG is because I had a call from my family friends wife Amanda ICU nurse, 1 hour ago, who told me that Amanda had a PEG fitted earlier this afternoon Amanda had her
tracheostomy
fitted 3 days ago and is still on 100% air/oxygen through her ventilator because

Update two on family friends wife condition
re-scanned her again six days ago today and because the swelling of her brain had gone down completely, they brought her out of the induced coma the same day over a twenty-four hour period but unfortunately she is still in a natural coma and unable to breathe by herself, earlier today she was fitted with a

Consultation with Patrik Hutzel and more
I wanted to schedule a conference today- tomorrow specifically because the anestiologist called to say they were going to do Tonys
tracheostomy
and peg. I am not trying to stop them but just as they rushed me to end his life a few days ago I just want to make sure we need to do this now.

At hospital now with Tony
Ok so while ive been here and researching I was wondering why the nurse told me he was getting a
tracheostomy
and peg on Monday because no one even asked us. So I decided to speak with the respiratory therapist who came in and I ASKED him how long can a person say on a vent he said 14 days.

Hemorrhagic Stroke Left Hemisphere of the Brain and part of Brain Stem still at Coma
She has
tracheostomy
, PEG and she has been breathing on her own. The doctors say that early intervention was very important with such a severe instance. Do you have any idea when she may get out of the coma situation and start to respond to the environment?
