General Anaesthetics for Pulmonary-Hypertension patients
Hi there. I'm new to this community. I've just been referred to a Pulmonary-Hypertension consultant by my Cardiologist as my latest Echocardiogram says I have "intermediate probability of pulmonary hypertension", along with "moderate mitral valve regurgitation". My question relates to General Anaesthetics

Ferritin level information
I have seen numerous claims of “check your ferritin level, if it’s <100 you need to start taking iron.” Unfortunately, it’s just not that simple. That guideline has not been established. I have confirmed this with my RLS physicians. He said ferritin level is only 1 component used along with transferrin

Ovarian Cystectomy
Hi, how are you? I'm 40 years old and I have an ovarian cyst that doctors believe to be an endometrioma (99%) for two years now. I have no symptoms whatsoever. Doctors want to perform an ovarian cystectomy due to the danger of torsion or cancer ( my mum had breast cancer). Since I'm not in pain, I'm

Hello. I am so scared and hope to hear some positivity from anyone that has been in a similar situation. 12 days ago I spotted some dark red mucousy blood in my poo. I went to the doctors immediately. I was expecting to hear “your only 31, it won’t be cancer, keep an eye on it” kind of thing, but it

Update
Hi Had a phone call on Friday asking me to contract the surgery, following my over range ferritin results. I've now got to have a TIBC, iron and TSAT blood test. I think I need to be honest with the surgery and say I've was supplementing with iron tablets until recently and this is likely to have caused

Faslodex/Fulvestrant update
For those being offered or starting this protocol - here’s an update. I know when I joined this group - it meant a lot to get information and experiences. Faslodex is my second line treatment- after Ibrance, Femara & zoladex. I’ve been feeling well on Faslodex - still going about my daily routine and

Iron levels
I was reading one of radd's posts explaining the relationship between iron deficiency and palpitations and decided to look at my recent results. I was diagnosed and started Levo on 19th March. Between 18 March and 30 June my serum iron has dropped from 25.9 to 11.5. The Serum TIBC has dropped

Early Stage or In Situ and MBC recurrence
I was diagnosed in situ 7 years ago. I opened for a Mastectomy and reconstruction as my dr said recurrence rate is less than 2 % as opposed to lumpectomy with radiation and approximately 13% recurrence. Seemed like a no brainer to me at 59. They found clusters of cancer cells in one lymph node. Removed

Are you relatively happy with your implant reconstruction after bilateral mastectomy?

Fatigue with PMR
I've recently been diagnosed with PMR. Steroids are working well , 15mg daily but I am exhausted. My consultant said it is likely to be the PMR, has anyone else experienced this and will it settle? I had a Mastectomy and reconstruction in June 2019 and occasionally get fatigue days as a result. This

Oedema & fungating cancer
My good friend had a mastectomy a few years ago, she’s now got secondary fungating cancer & having the dressings changed daily by district nurses. They are very kind but don’t have experience of dressing this cancer. Now she has oedema in her hands & legs & getting conflicting advice on whether to put

Feeling so tired and absolutely drained
Good afternoon, l wonder whether anyone would be kind enough please to see if they can help me? I have been feeling very tired and drained for several months and I am not sure if it might also have been aggravated by Covid, which I had in March this year. I have had a series of private blood tests,

Strange iron panel results (part 2!)
I posted several weeks ago about an anomaly in my 18 year old daughter's ferritin results and received some really helpful advice from @humanbean and others. Her ferritin level from a Medichecks blood test was 75, however when her GP tested it a few weeks later it was just 15.4 and her Haemoglobin was

Help with diagnosing gut issues that suddenly started 18 months ago - Related to sub-optimal B12?
Hi - this is a repost from IBS Network community. I saw posts on here that lower than optimal B12 could be the cause of my gut issues, which dont' seem to be IBD/IBS as calprotectin is low. Any advice - let me know! I'm new to this community and hoping to get some guidance on my gut issues. The heaviness
