My PMR and GCA story so far...
However, I am intrigued by the mention of a new drug,
Tocilizumab
(TCZ), which seems to have been effective for others with PMR/GCA, and if I am having a flare up then I may suggest to my GP that I'd be willing to try the new drug instead of increasing the Prednisolone. Wish me luck!

Time to take a BiTE? Bispecific T-Cell Engagers (BiTEs)
Treatment for severe CRS is primarily
tocilizumab
which is used for covid patients and those receiving CAR-T to dampen the process. Of course Tociizumab has its own side effects which need to be considered.

TCZ question
Does anyone know for how long
tocilizumab
is effective in the system? I can’t find an answer and am wondering, since I have started spacing my TCZ jabs quite considerably. Might be that I don’t need to do this if it only lasts a finite time.

JCVI advice recommending a fourth Covid jab for LVV-GCA patients on Tocilizumab?
I have been on (self-injected) Ro Actemra (
Tocilizumab
) since July 2019 for LVV-GCA, and it enabled me to cease all other medications (mainly the dreadful Prednisolone) over the course of the first 9 months.( All of my blood results have been totally normal from 2 weeks after starting

Can I quote you?
Hey experts … PMRpro, DorsetLady et al, My local Member of Parliament has just visited me to get information to put to our Federal Health Minister in an attempt to get an exemption so that I can have my allocation of
tocilizumab
extended, or indeed get the drug made available as it is for RA.

Blood Results - low neutrophils and low WBC
She was concerned because my neutrophils are now 1.5 and my WBC is 3.8 (or 3.6 - can't remember 🤔) She suggested that I call my clinical nurse to ask what I need to do regarding my
Tocilizumab
and Metoject injections.

CD19 CAR-T cell therapy for B-ALL achieved remarkable efficacy with a complete remission of 70–90%
Our center also reported that the levels of CRP, serum ferritin, and D-dimer are associated with severe CRS, and their reduced levels indicate a promising response to
tocilizumab
or corticosteroids (79).

Tocilizumab, Metoject/booster vaccine/possible positive
However, I wanted to ask: has anyone taking
Tocilizumab
has a third vaccine and/or booster? If so, did you do your
Tocilizumab
injection? I'm due my booster tomorrow and my
Tocilizumab
injection is due today. My Metoject injection is due Saturday. I'm not sure whether to do my injections this week.

Actrema (tocilizumab) and bladder infection
Hi everyone, I had my first infusion of Actrema this week. The infusion went fine but several hours later I started to get symptoms of a urinary tract infection and ended up with a bad UTI. The doctor put me on an antiobiotic while we wait for the culture results and that has helped. I very rarely get

Unfortunate News precipitated by rare side effect of Docetaxl
During this time, he was also administered with
tocilizumab
(a drug given to patients experiencing respiratory failure following covid) and septran (a strong antibiotic) and ganciclovir (anti-viral drug), none of which helped him.

Covid.
I am on Methotrexate, Prednisolone, Hydrocortisone and
Tocilizumab
yet despite that lot throwing the gates wide open in terms of having any immune defence they are some of the best at preventing Cytokine storms that kill people.

My RA is nearly always one-sided
I am having my 3rd infusion in 9 months on Wednesday (
Tocilizumab
). This is due to starting/stopping due to neutrophils dropping. They have said that if this happens again I will be starting yet another biologic.

Alternative to prednisone
I am about to be tapered off prednisone and put on the biologic medication Actemra (
Tocilizumab
) as my rheumatologist says the long term effects of prednisone are very hard on the body. The Actemra will be self injected weekly.

Starting tocilizumab
I had my first shot of TCZ this morning (10 hours ago). 45 minutes later I started to feel lousy, dizzy etc. I'm slowly getting better now. Is this anyone else's experience? Is it likely to pass, and it is something I have to look forward to every week, or does your body adjust to it? Am also on 14mg

Checking in: Rheumy diagnosis GCA
I'm at 40, down from 80. ( prednisone) She suggested Actemra (
tocilizumab
) but only if after I read about it, I felt comfortable with if. Am a little nervous about another new drug and self administrating injection...yikes! What's your experience?

Another good reason to be on
Tocilizumab
rather than steroids if possible ( and the reason NHS has extended
Tocilizumab
prescriptions during the pandemic).

Tocilizumab cessation.
I posted recently concerning the fear and dread the withdrawal of this excellent treatment causes myself and fellow sufferers of GCA/PMR. To further update I am a constituent of Sajid David and have therefore e-mailed him to express our shared distress at having this treatment given and then taken away
