Thyroidectomy?
Two endocrinologists have recommended I have a
thyroidectomy
. And even with all of these signals I am resistant to surgery. I’m wondering what are the factors that you would consider in this decision? Do people with Hashimotos ever feel better after a
thyroidectomy
?

T3 levels keep fluctuating/ armour
Hey, I had a
thyroidectomy
5 years ago. Very large goiter. Im 44. First two years I was just on synthroid, which lead to hypothyroidism because of absorption issues. Now on combo of armour and synthroid. Just armour leads to a low T4.

Near Total TT, not taking levo?
Hello to all, I am a 29 Yr old male and had a near total
thyroidectomy
in Nov2017. I am feeling miserable most the time.. Do you think I could stay off levo and rely on the leftover tissue gland?

Thyroidectomy and Meds
I had a total
thyroidectomy
due to papillary thyroid cancer in 1993. I've been cancer free since and doing ok except for the weight gain with T4 only meds. For almost 22 years the Dr. kept my TSH suppressed because they believed it would keep the cancer away.

Dr Abbi Lulsegged for Graves' disease?
I have Graves' disease and I am looking for a consultant who will not insist on either RAI or complete
thyroidectomy
which is what I am currently faced with.

Hi, can anyone advise whether these results are in range? I’ve just met with the GP who advised to stay on 100mg of thyroxine. Thanks

Thyroid removed and questions about Levothyroxine dose.
Following my complete
thyroidectomy
in Feb'19 I was informed I had Follicular Thyroid Cancer. Well not keen to take chances I opted to have my left side removed. Right side had been removed 35 years ago as it too had a nodule but this caused me to have hyperthyroidism. Now down to my question 😉.

Thyroidectomy 11yrs now more issues....
I had a
thyroidectomy
11yrs ago because of a large adenoma. I take 150mg of levothythorine and B12 jabs. Everything has been fine apart from the odd day of feeling tired and brain fog.

Requesting thyroid function test.
I had a hemi-
thyroidectomy
in February this year due to a nodule. I haven't had any thyroid function test since and was wondering if I am able to request this from my gp surgery? I am aware my remaining love should take over and keep me regulated but would like to have them checked to be sure.

Hypothyroid
In January this year my GP saw that I jad a large goiter, so I had a bilateral subtotal
Thyroidectomy
in May, since it was huge both sides. They started me on 100mcg Eltroxin, which made me terribly sick, so they reduced it to 50mcg and after 6 weeks to 62.5mcg.

New here.
After having a
thyroidectomy
in 1984 I have taken levothyroxine. All seemed to be well until 7 years ago when I had an oophectomy. My levels shown in blood tests for t4 seemed to shoot up and I have now gradually got down from taking 175 mcg to 125mcg on 5 days and 100mcg on 2 days.

80-10 calling seaside susie
She showed me these results, (I have had a
thyroidectomy
, so am very conscientious about my thyroxine supplement), and was somewhat taken aback by these results and her nonchalance about them. What would be your take on all this. Thanks in advance.

So so tired of trying to get well with such poor results, 9 years on and I feel so depressed. (Graves’ disease) ( blood tests inc in post).
When the alternatives are RAI or
thyroidectomy
, I believe neither of these will cure Graves Disease, maybe due to a lady I met at the hospital 4 years ago having bloods that told me she had a
thyroidectomy
for Graves, didn’t cure it but she put on 7 stone and deeply regrets the surgery.

Thyroid and HBP
I have taken levothyroxine for 40 years (
thyroidectomy
) and for the last 20 years have been continually arguing with my GP about HBP, average 150/105. Over this time I have been prescribed several types of BP reducing tablets and all have had no effect whatsoever.
