Is it too soon for thyroidectomy?
My Endo has recommended a
thyroidectomy
since my case was severe and believes chances are low that it will go into remission if I stopped meds and also considering I want to try for a baby soon.

Rookie question
Hi there, I had a full
thyroidectomy
in summer 2018 (follicular and papillary cancer found), radioactive iodine at the end of last year and have been for a scan and blood tests (post Thyrogen injections) a couple of weeks ago.

Reducing Nature Thyroid
Help needed please: After 21 years of being on 3 grains of various NDT plus antidepressants (originally given because of Graves disease which resulted in a
thyroidectomy
) was urged by pharmacist to come off dosulepin which I did (the last antidepressant taken in September.

No thyroid but feeling swollen
It’s been 8 months since I had a
thyroidectomy
. It’s been up and down but generally bearable. In the last week I have an uncomfortable feeling in my neck which I wasn’t expecting. Almost like something is swollen inside but I don’t have a thyroid so I’m confused.

Just found out I'm pregnant 10 months after my Total Thyroidectomy, advice needed please :)
Hi, I had a Total
Thyroidectomy
in January and was told last month that my levels are normal. So my partner and I decided to start trying for a baby. I've been very fortunate and just discovered that I am 2-3 weeks pregnant. I've booked an appointment at my GP for Thursday.

Total or partial thyroidectomy, a good reason to monitor bone density?
Reuter health article, research is flawed as its a retrospective study but one good point made is that current recommendations do not include monitoring bone density which seems to be a fairly obvious requirement in
Thyroidectomy
- for thyroid cancer at least.

Profile update....
Of course, they offered the usual radioactive drink or
thyroidectomy
...I refused both and opted for Tapozole. A few months into the medication I started to go hypo and it started to affect my eyes. My medication was reduced but the Thyroid eye disease progressed.

8 days post TT
Eight days post Total
Thyroidectomy
, it’s been a whirlwind. Diagnosed with hypothyroidism four months ago after visiting the GP as my throat looked swollen.

Graves, post THYROIDECTOMY. Lab tests.
Lab tests, how to take NP and T3 before test? I take 60 milligrams of NP thyroid and 25 micrograms of T3 at 9 in the morning. Should I take it the night before at 9 pm and then not in the morning before the test?

Dosing Thyroid Meds by BMI Post-thyroidectomy
I found an interesting study that discusses dosing
thyroidectomy
patients according to BMI rather than weight (endocrinologists often start
thyroidectomy
patients at doses equivalent to their weight, so a 125lb woman would get 125mcg, etc).

Ideal levels
Hi all, I had Graves disease with a large goitre in my chest so had a
thyroidectomy
a year ago. I have been on various doses of Levothyroxine and went from hyper to hypo. I am now on 50mg, the GP has said they would rather keep my under due to risk of osteoporosis.

Thought I was OK and then ....
I had a partial
thyroidectomy
in June for a suspicious nodule. After two months wait I got the all clear. After the operation though I started to feel unwell. Insomnia, lack of appetite, cold extremities, hair falling out in clumps and feeling dizzy.

The hormone needs in persons with Hashimoto's vs person who have had a thyroidectomy?
My friend was told that since she still has a thyroid (she has Hashimoto's), she'd most likely only need one pill a day (100 mcg T4, 20 mcg T3), possibly one and a quarter or one a half but no more, whereas patients having had a total
thyroidectomy
often require at least two pills a day for complete

Adding carbimazole to levothyroxine increases triiodothyronine and improves outcome in patients with primary hypothyroidism
They were divided into two groups; group 1 included 10 patients with HT and 2 patients with non-specified primary hypothyroidism, and group 2 included 7 patients with subtotal
thyroidectomy
for GD. All patients received carbimazole (10 mg/day) beside LT4 (25 μg thrice/week) for 10 weeks.

Possible PMR diagnosis
She had thyroid cancer in 2011 and had a totally
thyroidectomy
. Her TSH is very low (0.014) so they are gradually reducing the dose of Levothyroxine. The last doctor we visited thought that it might be PMR and started her on 15mg of Prednisone for 5 days.

Should I trust my gp?
My gp tells me total
