I know my consultant (he's not an endo) wants to keep my TSH low to reduce risk of any rogue cancer cells spreading following
thyroidectomy
last Sept, and I don't think he would be averse to T3 if pushed. I can't have RAI treatment due to dry mouth issues, but has TSH gone too low?

thyroid hormone receptor over sensitivity
hi Basically I had a full
thyroidectomy
years ago and take 60 micrograms of T3 and 125 milligrams of T4. I’ve been on this a long time and am obese and feel awful though 60mcg t3 and 125 mlg t4 is a massive amount.

Diabetic thyroidie & possible misdiagnosed BPD
My friend, an insulin dependent diabetic from childhood had a
thyroidectomy
2008/9 due to thyrotoxicosis. Three years later diagnosed with bi polar disorder. I suspect mis diagnosis. Takes T4 only, continual tachycardia episodes. I have been told TFTs are in range.

Ongoing fatigue following thyroidectomy due to cancer
In 2019 I had a full
thyroidectomy
and RAI treatment due to cancer. Since then I have had problems with fatigue, which I understand is not unusual after this type of treatment.

There are some enlightened GPs re T3!
I was concerned as I had wasted 3 years of my life being told by another GP that my thyroid levels were fine (
thyroidectomy
10 years previously) and that I was depressed. Found my results on Patients Portal and it said TSH Abnormal see doctor. So I feared that they would try to reduce my T3.

Pregnancy concerns
I had a
thyroidectomy
last year (Feb 21) and after much tweaking was placed on 100mcg thyroxine. I then fell pregnant in October and my dosage was immediately upped to 150mcg even though levels were normal.

Thyroid and Thyroxine.
I developed a goitre and for personal reasons had a
Thyroidectomy
( but they left a small part of it there). I was then put on Thyroxine I am now on 175mg daily.

Intermediate risk for Follicular Thyroid Cancer, is thyroidectomy right option?
So now, as a treatment, we returned to square one -
thyroidectomy
. The consultant, worth mentioning, is a different specialist to the one that I saw last year; he said he’d generally recommend partial
thyroidectomy
, but in my case, a full one would be a better option.

Updated Thyroid levels and new Vitamin readings
As a quick recap, had a full
Thyroidectomy
last September due to Papillary Cancer. I'm not having Radioactive Iodine as I already have poor saliva and it might make it worse.

Newly diagnosed with CLL and wondering what tests to request.
Hi all, I didn't feel well after partial
thyroidectomy
. Had some teats and was told I have cll. Was told just to watch and be retested every three months. I was tested for CBC and differential. From reading some of these posts, it looks like there is a genetic test available.

Return to Patient-Centred Treatment and not before time!
Further, in
thyroidectomy
patients the amount of supplementation needed to achieve normalization of T3 levels is such that it leads to suppression of TSH,10,11 which may explain why some patients lack complete resolution with normal TSH and feel resolution of symptoms with suppressed TSH levels.

my List of References recommending GP's keep TSH lower in range : feel free to add any others you have in replies.
The exception to this is after
thyroidectomy
for thyroid cancer, when TSH values may need to be suppressed to and maintained at a concentration <0.1 mU/l (1,3,4) " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ and another one .....

Post Thyroidectomy pointers
Hi everyone, After 13 months on the NHS waiting list, I'm booked in for my TT a week today! I was diagnosed with Graves disease back in 2018 and after a couple of relapses and a few other reasons, I decided to go down this route. I just wanted to see if anyone on here had some tips of what questions

Has anyone with spondylitis or psoriatic arthritis had adhesive capsulitis?
Thyroid issues may be relevant in my case since I had a
thyroidectomy
some years ago and take artificial hormones. These though are usually within the correct limits when I've had my blood tested. If anyone knows anything about adhesive capsulitis, please reply.

Supplement advice please for a newbie
I had a total
thyroidectomy
late last year for thyroid cancer followed by RAI in March. I got through those treatments and became increasingly fatigued and have felt really awful. Following blood tests taken in May at the hospital, I was prescribed 800 IU cholecalciferol for vitamin D.

I had a total
thyroidectomy
they removed my cancer and I am ok. We have made it past our worst days. So if your struggling know that it will get better and if it sucks for a bit more know that it will pass. We will handle what comes our way and we will have people here to help us get thru.
