theophylline
Have just been started on
theophylline
. Am a bit unsure what to expect, and whether I will get any side effects or anything. My cons said I could get tummy ache or fast heart rate, but is there anything I can do to help this (apart from keep fingers crossed i don't get any side effects of course!)

I am not in my specilist hospital and the hospital I'm in (my local) have surggested
theophylline
when I leave. I been investigating on the web this drug and notice you have to stick to the same brand. How do they decide what brand to put you on?

Advice needed please about options & where next, on step 4 management?
Never been on Symbicort for example or
theophylline
? Is there much difference/benefit between the different steroid inhalers? Had been on various doses up to max Beclometasone before I couldn't stand the non CFC taste of Clenil.

PCTs and Home Nebulisers
Hi :) Over the last year or so my consultant has decided that my asthma wasnt being controlled by inhalers, prednisolone,
theophylline
etc so he told me to purchase a home nebuliser as the PCT no longer gives funding for home nebulisers.

Huge THANK YOU :)
, ventolin,
theophylline
and singulair (as well as a multitude of antihistamines!) to try and stabilise during this lovely but stifling weather, so you can all hold me to it... No going back to stuff before we're fully fit to!!!!!!!!

order of adding new medications
Specifically, when people are taking
theophylline
type medication or atrovent, was this added in addition to pred, or are some people taking either of them without being on long term pred?

Theophylline toxicity??
Hi everyone Have been in costa again as collapsed with what appeared to be a panic attack/faint hitting head but turned out to because my heart was racing due to
theophylline
level being 29 which is toxic?? normally can only get it to 6 or 10 but had been discharged on anti sickness meds.

how long do benefiical effects of theophylline last?
I'm back with a question: if you stop taking a
theophylline
based drug (I've been taking Uniphylline), how long is it likely to continue having any positive effect? I know this is a weird question, but the background is that I am trying (under GP guidance) allergen avoidance strategies.

Discontinued inhaler, bank holidays and feeling poorly
Saw the asthma nurse at the hospital who said to hold off taking another course as exhaled nitric oxide test didn't show significant inflammation and increased my
theophylline
instead (which still hasn't resolved symptoms).

Can't seem to leave the house!
I've been doing really well this week after starting
theophylline
it's really making a difference for me. That was until last night I had to walk through a train station where someone had been smoking indoors.

Theophylline, daily dose? or flexible dose?
I am set to go into my gp today after a horrendous past week of attacks, i have been told to go in to pick up
theophylline
or something like that. I just wondered is this medication something i can start and stop as when needed or do i have it all time and build it up in my system?

Too allergic for allergy tests?!
Since then I've found a few studies some in asthma and others in COPD that conclude
theophylline
does have an effect on airway inflammation, but the studies were small and I can't find any follow up studies. Has anyone else been refused
theophylline
for this reason?

When to start pred/ theophylline
Are the side effects of
theophylline
really bad? (Bearing in mind I avoid coffee with lots of ventolin, because it makes me shaky and feel weird.) PS I really, really hate pred. x
