Muscle mass vs prostate cancer mortality
And, as noted in this study, muscle mass is correlated with
testosterone
and IGFBP-3. And of course, inversely correlated with SHBG (binds
testosterone
and makes it biologically inactive). My bro-science guess is that GH,
testosterone
, and IGF-1 can be damaging IF they aren't put to use.

now <5. Hot flashes short and mild. Cold flashes not a problem. Procedure was straightforward and done at Strong Hospital here in Rochester, NY. I do wish I had remembered to discuss prosthetics with the surgeon as it never occurred to him that they would be appropriate.

5α-Reductase Inhibitors are Associated with Reduced Risk of SARS-COV-2 Infection
[1] Note: 5α-Reductase Inhibitors [5ARIs] - such as Dutasteride [Avodart] - inhibit the conversion of
testosterone
to dihydrotestosterone [DHT]. "SARS-CoV-2 has a disproportionately severe effect on men, suggesting that the androgen pathway plays a role in the disease.

Any IVF cycle buddies?
We are trying a few different things this time, I took
testosterone
gel for four weeks prior to my cycle and I’m taking growth hormone injections every other day. I also found out recently I have high NK cells so will be having an intralipid drip on the day of transfer.

Pain from Testosterone Shots
Sometimes, not always, when I inject
testosterone
in my thigh there is a delayed reaction a day or two later. The muscle which received the injection does not like being extended, and the center of the pain is a couple of inches below where the injection was made. It goes away in a day or two.

New Member - Building Muscle Mass
In the meantime, I am watching the diet and lifestyle and proactively taking a variety supplements/herbs, some of which are specifically focussed on trying to keep
testosterone
at a minimum, how successful that will be I don't know yet as far as
testosterone
reduction.

Associations of fat and muscle mass with overall survival in men with prostate cancer: a systematic review with meta-analysis
(castrate
testosterone
levels tend to lead to a loss of muscle mass) Importantly, IMO,
low visceral:subcutaneous adipose tissue ratio was associated with overall survival
in men with prostate cancer. IMO, the key to visceral fat uptake is triglycerides.

To neuter, or not to neuter? That is the question. 😀
I have read, however, that a small amount of
testosterone
is produced in the adrenal glands. If I have an orchiectomy and stop the ADT injections, will there still be enough
testosterone
to help the cancer cells grow?

Wow! Ejaculation again!
Testosterone
slowly creeping back up, although still quite low. Libido also slowly coming back. Never had any issues with getting erections, just the lack of libido previously. PSA undetectable as of last month. Just turned 49 last month.

Aging is Delayed in Castrated Males
Actually castration is the removal of testicles, but the effect of that is reduced
testosterone
. So ADT is similar to castration in that way, reduction of
testosterone
. It implies (to me) that males given ADT may outlive non-castrated males and females.

testosterone-PSA association question
Very strange to have by
testosterone
almost double as I aged between age 45 to age 55. See my history. Has anyone noticed their
testosterone
and PSA increase as they age? I believe there may be a relationship between my
testosterone
increasing and my PSA levels.
