Another interesting blog post from Alan Hoffman
In this post he makes reference to the program BIG, and to the drugs
Rytary
and Tasigna (nilotinib), which he is taking. http://advenventurouslifewithparkinsons.blogspot.com.au/?m=1

Take nothing for granted. Try anything that that will not harm you and keep a diary.
I recently wrote a post about trying
Rytary
again. To do this i decided to quit all other meds and take it alone. At that time i was taking carbidopa levodopa, azilect and Requip. To my surprise all the night time problems went away.

Is rytary the same as madopar CR?
I've read our American friends' posts about
Rytary
and I'm wondering if it's the same sort of thing as madopar cr or whether it's a different type . And if so is it available in the UK? I'm clutching at straws but as it's 5 years since I saw a neurologist (not for want of trying!)

Parkinsons and Animal-Based Protein
I was able to go from 8 Sinemet/day and 8
Rytary
/day to 4 Sinemet/day and 6
Rytary
per day. I still take a nap, but I don't have the total exhaustion and body freezing episodes. Vegan is not easy - getting enough protein can be a challenge not to be taken on without a dietician.

Protein Update
I take 1 Sinemet 5X daily and 2
Rytary
3X daily. For the past four years, I have been struggling with what I thought were blood sugar issues, in that I would battle fatigue throughout the day.

Possible Psa diagnosis now
My original diagnosis was RA 18 months ago but MXT has never been very successful. I was in pain every day. The only thing that helped was NSAIDs but the doc said I shouldn't be taking them along with the MXT. The last appointment with rheumy I showed him what I thought was psoriasis on one leg . Very

My new Neurologist says try Azilect. I'm doing fine...but
So, now I've started being monitored by a renowned movement disorder doctor and he says I should switch from Sinemet to
Rytary
for longer periods of control. But first I have to take Azilect for a few weeks.

Dyskinesia
I changed to
Rytary
about a year ago and have had very even control. (10 per day of 36.25/145.) I have arrived recently in the "land of dyskinesia". I have had periods of uncontrollable movements of head, jaws, teeth, and upper body that I could only describe as a seizure in slow motion.

Rytary
The manufactures released
Rytary
as an 8 hour medication but in the real world it seems its time span is closer to 4 to 4.5 hours. The manufacturer is aware of the results now that they are getting tons of feedback.

Hurrah For Rytary
When my husband could not get to the next dose of carbo/levo without a bad down time, the Dr. prescribed
Rytary
. He takes two pills at 6:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m. 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. He no longer has any problem walking, slowly but surely. He is diagnosed 15 years now so this is a blessing.

More about Rytary Please
I will see my neuro in August and am wondering if i should suggest a switch from Stalelvo 100 to
Rytary
. The reason is because of the dyskinesia which I thought maybe would be less with
Rytary
since the meds are spread out more evenly. Has anyone who is on it found that it reduces dyskinesia?
