Plaquenil battle won :)
Well I had a long debate with the chemist who blamed me being given
quinoric
on the GP. It seems they have to give the generic version where possible but coud have asked for Plaquenil if they wished. Best of all it seems the difference in price between the two is a whopping 20p how ridiculous.

How do I get a second opinion?
I have been diagnosed with systemic lupus and put on
quinoric
for five months with absolutely no effect, flares take use of both hands big style! Not taken any drugs apart from preds and diclofenac in flares for past seven months.

Hydroxychloroquine - Plaquenil or Quinoric
But when I got home I discovered that the chemist has given me
quinoric
. Does anyone else know anything about differences in side effects? I don't want to take them back if its exactly the same, but the plaquenil sometimes upsets my tummy and I don't want to take
quinoric
if its gong to be worse.

If your on Hyroxychloroquine read what i found out on Lupus UK
The reason
Quinoric
® is now being dispensed is that it is a cheaper alternative to Plaquenil®, which has come off its patent. If you have received
Quinoric
® and have noticed adverse effects then you should consult your GP.

Quinoric now - what happened to Plaquenil?
I've just collected my latest prescription for Hydroxichloraquine from the pharmacy and find I've been given a different type of pill with a brand new name. I've experienced this many times with my Levothryoxine so I know it's quite usual for doctors to switch brands but am slightly alarmed this time

Fibro' check up.
I also questioned how I am now given
Quinoric
instead of Plaquinil? he's not sure how it got altered on the perscription.....so he's changed it back to Plaquinil....I want to see if I start to have my joint pains improve with it. He thinks maybe I need Nerve conduction tests?.....

Plaquenil or Quinoric
I was given plaquenil by my rhumy but my repeat prescription from my doctors is for
quinoric
. I find the plaqunil ok to take I've been taking it for a month, some mild cramping but not too bad. But after a week of
quinoric
I have slight reflux and a dodgy tummy too.

Why did I bother!? Anyone from Stoke on Trent here?
I went to my doctor today because I was given
quinoric
after being on plaquenil for a month and it didn't agree with. Very upset, painfully tummy. My doctor told me he cant change the prescription to say plaquenil because it's down to the pharmacy and what they have in.
