IPF which drug do you take
My choices are Nintedanib or Esbriet (
pirfenidone
) The side effects of both are not special, just wondered if you good people out there have any experience on either. Theses drugs were recommended by the Brompton Hospital, look forward to you answers.

Hi Everyone
I have pulmonary fibrosis and have been on
pirfenidone
for the last three years or so. I have had flu for the last two weeks still weak but recovering now. I have this persistent dry cough and hope it will go away soon, other than that I'm fine and looking forward to getting out and about.

And Then There's This Little Ditty....
It appears to work as well if not better than
Pirfenidone
, which is one of the FDA approved drugs." This piece of protein not only prevents scarring in the lungs, it reverses it.

Pirfenidone or Nintedanib?
I've been offered a choice of which drug to take to slow down the my fibrosis -
pirfenidone
or nintedanib... it seems that they both have similar effectiveness, but different side-effects. Has anyone been on either? Any real-world advice or experience you could share? Thanks!

Esbriet (pirfenidone)
Esbriet or
Pirfenidone
I began taking this medication mid November and quit December 31. The side effects were just to much, headaches, body aches, and greatly increased fatigue. I'm feeling I'm on the down swing health wise hoping I level off and find a new groove.

New to this!!! IPF
Think its likely that
Pirfenidone
will be discussed / started What sort of questions should we be asking and what support (if any) can we expect.? Not convinced that husband fully understands the implications of this disease Also any advice on travel insurance also appreciated.

Insurance
I am 79, have IPF diagnosed 2010 and currently on
Pirfenidone
. I am reasonably active using O2 at 5/6 litres for 16 hrs daily and I am envious of all those patients who go cruising. How do they get insurance?

When it does they want to put me on to
Pirfenidone
which can have so many side effects that I don't feel I want to have this. Quality of life against extra time! Anyone been on this medication, and if so, how did you cope with any side effects? Also did you stay on it or were you taken off?

IPF
I know that the steroids aren't helping and her consultant has advised that a new drug
pirfenidone
, might be the answer, but mum being older and sometimes confused is reluctant to change drug, due to the long list of possible side effects the doctor told her was possible.
