Vitamin D - daily dose?
when I was first diagnosed with PBC my Vit D levels were low so had a high dose supplement which brought levels up to normal range. Bone density scan was OK. With general vitamin supplement and cod liver oil in winter months I take 10 microg of Vit D. I would be interested to hear how much anyone else

As advised on here a few months ago I rechecked my iron levels in December, hoping to have some reason for continuing ectopic heartbeats.

I have been aware it seems to have got bigger over the last few months and I do feel self-conscious about it. It does not affect breathing . I stayed

High Dose Niacin (Nicotinic Acid) and Hashimoto's?
Update 01/22/2023: I just learned there is an increased risk of diabetes on niacin therapy: https://heart.bmj.com/content/102/3/198 This study was based on people taking Niacin for cardiovascular reasons, which I think would be dosed at 500 to 6000 mg a day: https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements

Hello, I hope you're all well :) I've been trying to cope with a pain condition for well over 5 years now. Started with rectal and back pain mid month and now it's become a case of just 1 week out of a month (post period) where I don't experience pain and symptoms. I had a laparoscopy in 2021 and

Ferinject to correct iron deficiency and strange clicking in throat when swollowing
So I had very bad iron deficiency anemia for some time now. Iron tablets did not work well. So an internist decided to give me ferinject 1000 to correct it. I had 30 minutes of iron infusion and I was fine. Then after couple of days my throat was swollen and I start to have strange sensations. It's like

Iron Infusion in the U.S.
Hello wise RLS colleagues!Has anyone had Medicare pay for an iron infusion for their RLS? I meet the RLS guidelines for iron infusion, but I have been told that Medicare will not cover it because I am not anemic. If it was covered, can you share with me what code was used? I have had RLS for 20 years

Dad not waking up from induced coma after Sudden Cardiac Arrest, What are his chances? Signs of 'waking up'?
My Dad is 54 years old and collapsed at work last Friday 03/03/2023 from Sudden Cardiac Arrest. No symptoms, no chest pains, no warning signs. He is moderately fit, not a heavy drinker but is a heavy smoker and they found a blocked valve that had built up for months allegedly due to the smoking. His

Prophylactics
Hi I have been on Acalabrutinib for two weeks now along with prophylactics, one being Co trimoxazole , which I seemed to react to. I have now been offered Pentamidine, which I have read up on and don’t like the sound of plus it does not sound as if it protects as well. Is anyone else on these drugs

Pain relief for R.A - alternatives to what I'm using...
Hi there, I've had R.A since last September. I've been on MTX for the last 5 months and it hasn't worked, so I'm waiting to start on Adalimumab which I'm led to believe can take up to 12 weeks to become effective. So far I've had 3 steroid injections, along a 10 week course of Prednisolone to help

Treating anaemia alongside thyroid medication
Having been on T3 only for about 8 months, I have made some massive strides in terms of my general health. Most of the symptoms that had me at my absolute lowest ebb, have gone. However, if one remains it is a general feeling of weakness. I used to weight lift 4 - 5 times a week before thyroid illness

Why you should NOT supplement high-dose D3
https://youtu.be/GsomcvdT7Po This random video I came across deserves more views. If you're baffled about how to get enough vitamin D when not exposed to regular sunlight, try supplementing raw cold-pressed cod liver oil instead along with vitamin K. https://www.westonaprice.org/health-topics/cod-liver-oil

What pain relief do you use?
Following on from my thread, I just wondered what pain relief you use? Naproxen, paracetamol, Mefenamic acid have done nothing for me. I'm currently on co-codamol 30/500 which is working but is saying my constipation to be worse than it is already. Does anyone use Amitriptyline? Thinking it might help
