PARP treatment for BRCA2-2nd gen better than Olaparib?
Another Oncologist had told me that should
Olaparib
eventually fail, then any other PARPs would probably not work for me. I hope he's wrong.

I am still heređđ
When I was diagnosed Avastin was THE maintenance drug.Due to research many more maintenance drugs have been licensed, especially Parp inhibitors.Ive been on Parp (
Olaparib
) since Jan 2016.

Approved for Lynparza (Olaparib)
PSA is rising and Xtandi doesn't seem to be doing it anymore, so Dr. Sartor has me going on Lynparza probably starting at my next appointment in two weeks. If anyone has any advice as to side effects, time to take it, etc or any other advice, I would appreciate it. I know I used y'all's advice when

My husband is in a phase 2 trial with
Olaparib
. He does not have the Barca gene. The full does of 600 mg made him too weak so taking 300mg. His hemoglobin is down to 9. He is weak but better than the full dose. So if he doesnât have any of the mutations will this drug still work. Anyone know?

Today they also offered me a place in a phase 3 double blind study of abiraterone with and without the PARP inhibitor
Olaparib
. Iâm thinking it over. My hesitation is that earlier studies reported a âclinically significantâ gain in some patients, but they donât say what that really means.

Second opinion NYC or Philly
I am being offered a phase 3 double-blind trial, abiraterone alone vs abiraterone with
olaparib
, which I will accept if nothing better appears, but Iâm not persuaded that this course is the best one, for me, at this time.

BRCA positive but itâs not hereditary.
The letter from the geneticist to her cleary states BRCA POSITIVE and
Olaparib
should be used. Fortunately I have not had any recurrence since end of treatment in January so have not had it prescribed.

Ovarian cancer pill could also help thousands of men with prostate issues
Olaparib
could become a revolutionary treatment for prostate cancer â the first genetically targeted drug for fighting this certain disease, experts announce us.

Help needed please. First recurrence. I'm so scared.
The plan is to start carbo/caelyx on the 17th and then
Olaparib
(I'm BRCA2+ve) if I respond well. Apart from the huge shock of this recurrence is the fact that I've now been reading up and fluid near the lungs makes me a stage 4 (I think). The doctor never mentioned this yesterday.

All clear after first-line treatment :)
Because of new UK guidelines, I would have been eligible for
Olaparib
PARP inhibitor, but I am past the deadline (has to be within 2 months of finishing chemo).

Gutted about Olaparib
Whilst I would prefer to live drug and side effect free, I'd hoped
Olaparib
would be a bit of certainty. I'm just so f@cking tired of 'thinking positive' every day with my fingers crossed. Gutted. Em x

Journalist request
She would like to interview a few people who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the last 5 years and who have been treated with either Niraparib or
Olaparib
. It does not matter where you are based in the UK.

Lynparza (olaparib) slows progression in men with BRCA2, BRCA1, and ATM gene mutations
A similar analysis showed the benefits on BRCA 1/2 of another PARP inhibitor, Zejula (niraparib): https://pcnrv.blogspot.com/2019/10/

Roll the DICE Trial, anyone
It was good hearing this from the horses mouth as Dr Banerjee has been overseeing most of the trials of all the PARPS, from
Olaparib
, Niraparib, etc. She is positive that neither a stronger dose, nor changing to a different PARP, will prove to be effective for me.

17 years with metastatic prostate cancer - operation 2 and a dance with Lu
So thatâs a possible route to go down in the future - although my BRAC2 mutation was supposed to make
Olaparib
work, and it didnât.

Olaparib side effects
Hallo, I'm BRCA2 positive and have been on
Olaparib
for 3 months now. I've had issues with my kidneys due to this, pain in my ankles, calves and extreme abdominal pain, so have had to reduce the dose from 400mg to 200mg. Some days the abdominal pain is so bad I don't take the meds at all.

Fighting for better Options
She also told me that I could not switch to
Olaparib
, another option I was entertaining. That I could not qualify and if Niraparib didnât work
Olaparib
would not either. I am having another CT scan next Thursday, and a follow up appointment with my Oncologist two weeks later.
