Post oesophagectomy problems
My husband had an Ivor Lewis procedure 51/2 years ago, and we are thankful he is still here. Unfortunately he has suffered slow motility, but due to having a natural kink in his stomach also has a sump where food collects to add to this. He has to go in for regular Botox injections to try to help.

How do you cope with eating socially???
hi I’m 18 months since a salvage mcKeowan
oesophagectomy
and slow rehabilitation since two months in ITU post op. I’ve only been out socially twice to eat and found it very stressful. What to eat? Starter portions too small, mains too big, lots of spices and chilli.

Severe Dumping
I am 17 years post
oesophagectomy
. Today I experienced a whole new level of symptoms that I am confident were part of late dumping syndrome. 1.5 hrs after cake I had an episode of sweating and a new experience of confusion and disorientation.

Excercise
What exercises should you not do following an
oesophagectomy
? Are sit ups for example ok? Weight training squats etc? I’m several years post up but want to get into shape 🙂

Esophagectomy surgery 10 days post-op
Hello kind people. I had my IL Esophagectomy surgery Aug. 16th. Everything has gone well and my lymph nodes that were removed did not have any cancer in them (YAY!). One thing I have been experimenting is night sweats. I wake up soaked in my bed clothes. I haven't determined if this is from surgery

I’m two and a half years post McKeon’s
oesophagectomy
and have continuous early and late dumping which is manageable having been prescribed Creon - which has made a huge difference.

SIBO post surgery
Anyone post
oesophagectomy
having trouble with SIBO? I have had the diagnosis for about two years and we are struggling to find a treatment. We are currently trying Azithromycin 250mg every other day for two months.

Sharing my good news
Apart from the usual peri-operative FLOT and gastro-
oesophagectomy
, I have just completed a year's worth of Ogivri (Trastuzumab), because my cancer was HER2+.

Reflux leading to coughing and phlegm
I am 14 months post IL. Recovery has been great with my strength and appetite returning. I sleep on an incline on my motorized mattress. Only issue I’m having is occasional reflux at night when I slide down into a flat position. I wake up suddenly with harsh burning at the top of my throat and a 10-15

Treatment for recurrent oesophageal cancer
If so I am wondering what treatment was offered, in particular whether you had a second
oesophagectomy
/ further surgery? Also, if anyone has had a full
oesophagectomy
(I had a partial) I would be keen to hear how quality of life has been. Thanks

Mask Exemption
I am wondering if anyone has got a medical exemption from wearing a mask due to having an
oesophagectomy
? Eight and a half years on I still struggle to take a full intake of breath.

Squamous cell carcinoma
I am 8 months post
oesophagectomy
and am getting wheezing in my chest on some days. I am wondering if this is caused by aspiration as the stomach has been pulled up so near to the top of the trachea? I had a CT scan and all was clear in the lungs, thank goodness.

Crappy feeling after eating
I am 10+ months post esophagectomy and continue to have a semi-nauseous feeling after eating. Sometimes within 10mins, sometimes a half-hour later. I also get that feeling when biking or exerting myself, even on an empty "stomach". I am a cyclist and hope this isn't the norm that continues indefinitely

Sleeping position - 31 Months post Oesophagectomy
I am now 31 months post
oesophagectomy
and doing fine. But I am still having trouble finding a comfortable sleeping position. I had always been a left side sleeper, which is now impossible. I have tried bed wedges , V pillows , different combinations of normal pillows.

Got my treatment plan
Plan is 4 lots of FLOT chemo over 8 weeks, then 6 weeks respite before
oesophagectomy
. Sounds easy!!!!!!! He said it was life changing and I believe it is but I’m terrified. My main concern is how my husband will cope, he has Parkinson’s and I’m his carer. I never expected the tables to turn !

Effects of Aspirin After Oesophagectomy
I take a daily dose of aspirin as a blood thinner as prescribed by the hospital, I have had an
oesophagectomy
. Does anyone have experience of this and whether the aspirin will damage the lining of the now elongated stomach or intestine.
