ASH 2018: Professor Peter Hillmen on the Combination of Ibrutinib and Obinutuzumab in CLL: Timing Matters
Patients receiving
obinutuzumab
after >1 year prior ibrutinib on its own achieved a higher response rate compared to those who started the two drugs together.

It turns out it matters not only what meds you get but the also the order you get them in
This week we posted an interview on the CLL Society website (CLLSociety.org) with Professor Hillmen of Leeds concerning the timing of ibrutinib and
obinutuzumab

My Dana-Farber Trial Update
Zero side effects from
Obinutuzumab
. Today, I completed my first dose of Venetoclax at 400 mg after titrating up for a month. Maybe a little bit of tiredness last week, which also could be due to the pace of weekly four-hour drives to Boston and back for a month. A touch of nausea last week.

Not even a week on Acalabrutinib and...WOW!
On Sept. 27th, I start
Obinutuzumab
, which will hunt down those b-cells in my blood with their "brilliantly lit" with CD20 that
Obinutuzumab
is searching for. Time for cancerous mid-life b-cells to die! Venetoclax will be added in late October to add some more big-time punch.

Dana-Farber Clinical Trial for Non-pre-treated patients
I had mentioned the trial I'm in using Acalabrutinib,
Obinutuzumab
, and Ventoclax. Here's the information from ClinicalTrials.gov. https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03580928?recrs=ab&cond=cll&draw=2&rank=2

CLL Treatment Sequencing by Dr. Susan O'Brien
Venetoclax is in an ongoing clinical trial with
obinutuzumab
(Gazyva), the other novel anti-CD20 agent. That randomized trial will probably lead to a frontline label for venetoclax. This will allow us to have more options, which is good, but it also would make sequencing more complicated.

Get your thyroid checked.
So far I'm on Acalabrutinib and
Obinutuzumab
. Start Venetoclax next month. But I'm still very fatigued and getting headaches, so this week I asked OSU to check my thyroid levels. (I already have an underactive thyroid and have been on Synthroid - not the generic - for about five years.)

Deciding on CLL Therapy and When to Treat- ONCLive Video discussion Drs. Wierda, Lamanna, Ma, Davids, Coutre
But again, we have
obinutuzumab
if you want to use an antibody to shrink lymph nodes in an elderly person, that’s your goal. And some people may still want to give bendamustine and rituximab in select patients. So, it sort of depends. But at least we have information to allow us to make choices.

Gazyva (obinutuzumab) treatment
My Doctor is recommending Gazyva (
obinutuzumab
) treatment for my CLL. I heard that some people had good outcomes. How long would one expect to be Cancer free after treatment before a relapse? (Example 1 year?, 2 years?, 3 years, etc.) Any information will be helpful. Thanks

Vision problem
Hi, I have been having treatment since November 2016, a combination of
Obinutuzumab
and Chlorambucil. I am having difficulty with my vision. Neither my old or new prescription glasses make my distance vision any clearer.

Reaction to test for Obinutuzumab
Yesterday I was to start cycle 1 of
Obinutuzumab
. They tried twice with test amount but I reacted both times within 5 mins of infusion. I had piriton before and after to counteract the reaction. I told them I never take piriton for allergies I prefer cetrine.
