Oedema & fungating cancer
My good friend had a
mastectomy
a few years ago, she’s now got secondary fungating cancer & having the dressings changed daily by district nurses. They are very kind but don’t have experience of dressing this cancer.

Letrozole(Femara) /joint pain threads continued.....
Like the people that have a lumpectomy or
mastectomy
, then are given tamoxifen for 5 years, then they stop. This is mind blowing to me - since most of us were told MBC never goes away, you will take meds for the rest of your life etc etc. The whole thing is a very scary thought now.

Breast Cancer Research for Chemotherapy Induced Cognitive Changes!!!
I also underwent a double
mastectomy
with reconstruction in 2020. I am now taking tamoxifen for hormonal control. As many of you may have experienced, I noticed a great deal of brain fog and cognitive changes while on chemotherapy treatment and thereafter.

Breast cancer and Radiotherapy
However I was told that because I have lupus I will have a high risk of lung fibrosis if I have the radiotherapy and therefore the surgeon has recommended I don’t and I have a
mastectomy
instead.

Are you relatively happy with your implant reconstruction after bilateral mastectomy?
Having surgery in a few weeks and worried about how I will look after reconstruction.

Shaving before vasectomy
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. Just joined today as I am having a vasectomy done by a GP in a couple of weeks. Not worried about the procedure as such - I'm 51 and been meaning to get around to this for a while - but it's more about the prep. Anyone had it done who can give some good advice on shaving

even though I’ve convinced myself it’s bad news and I’m either going to have a
mastectomy
, change drugs and go straight to hardcore chemo and lose my hair… I’m just processing the possibilities whilst clinging onto positivity. What the hell is under my armpit?

Stunned, scared, sad, but grateful and happy to be here!
Double
mastectomy
with DIEP reconstruction. Chemo and radiation. 7.5 years Tamoxifen then switched to Letrozole for 1.5 years. Almost done! Or so I thought. Then right after my ten years, in September’21 diagnosed with MBC (now just Er+) to liver and bones with some node involvement.

Spreading Cancer (Or Just Waking It Up)
The same effect is noted in patients who have undergone complete
mastectomy
, which doesn't disturb the tumor tissue itself much (or at all). Alternatively, were these actively growing tumors that had spread before the surgery and were just too small to detect?

LETROZOLE
I had a 2cm lump plus nearly 3cms of calcification which was pre cancer so opted for
mastectomy
with no reconstruction best decision for me! It was so quick just 4 weeks from being diagnosed to having
mastectomy
and in the middle of covid!

For UK members an interesting study of statistics and chemo..
Being someone who chose not to have chemo when I had cancer de novo because I was counted low risk and the statistics seemed good for me (had
mastectomy
). I survived the 10 years referenced in the statistics and in year 11, I was diagnosed with MBC.

Question on treatment options (long)
I am 67, breast cancer survivor (diagnosed 2014 with stage 1 and did not need chemo or radiation but did take a pill for 5 years and had a double
mastectomy
) and in 2021 was diagnosed with endometrial stromal sarcoma which was treated by a complete hysterectomy and chemo.

Breast cancer and Lupus.
Was diagnosed with breast cancer last November, so because of family history, I've had a
mastectomy
. I'm now due to have chemotherapy to start next week. Has anyone else had breast cancer/chemotherapy and ongoing.

Single and living with MBC
When I inventory all that breast cancer brings with it (
mastectomy
, treatments, mouth sores from the treatments, joint pain, I could go on forever). But last but not least atrophic vaginitis from the lack of estrogen in body!!! Ouch!!
