Yeah! Ate out succesfully.........!
Hi I took my daughter who eats a gluten free diet out for tea, we thought we would have to have the usual, plain jacket potato or salad but we went past Nando's so we went in to ask. The staff were really helpful & gave us their allergy advice manual which listed all their dishes & what allergies & sensitivities

How long does it take for diarrhoea to settle?
I was diagnosed with CD at the start of August. I am following the gluten free diet strictly, avoiding contamination and avoiding lactose too as this seems to create havoc. However, diarrhoea is still the bane of my life and a bit unpredictable. When might this settle? Immodium has no effect.

GF + Exercise = Ketosis?
I suffered for years with IBS, but was finally put on a gluten-free and lactose-free diet to see if it would help. I'd started losing weight, my symptoms were so severe, dropping one and a half stones (21 lbs) or so in about a month. (I was 10st9 - 149 lbs - and 6'3, so a little worrying) It sort

Being the difficult one
I've been diagnosed for 2 years now and I never really found it too hard to adjust to the gluten free diet. I feel better and I enjoy cooking and baking more so I've just got on with it. However, lately I have felt a bit bothered shall I say about the limitations this diet has. The other week, for

How to tell if you have Coeliac Disease, Gluten Intolerance or Gluten Allergy
If you think you may have Coeliac Disease it is important to carry on eating foods that contain gluten - in other words eat normally - but visit your doctor and arrange to be tested. This begins with a very simple blood test, nothing to be alarmed about. You will only get a true test result if you have

If you are on a gluten free diet and are still experiencing difficulties or may not feel as well as expected -
I am sharing a list of foods that appear on a US site as probably containing gluten. This is especially useful for coeliacs who have been gluten free for at least two years but do not feel well as it gives them/us a chance to scruitinise thier/our diets to find possible culprits. Many of the foods

Is my blood test result normal?
Hi all. Can anyone tell me what my blood test result means? I am coeliac and have just had coeliac blood test result back of 2.2%, which I am told is normal, unless on gluten-free diet! I was then told 0-4% is normal range. I am confused. Does this mean I am taking in gluten somewhere? As far as I am

Help with supermarket shopping!
My teenage daughter has had various health issues during the past year. Was diagnosed with CFS/ME then this year she had thyroid problems with fluctuating TSH (max 7.45) but now seemingly stabilised (and not medicated) - will be reviewed in 3 months. She has had extreme fatigue, aches, swings of mood

Getting our heads around GLUTEN and the problems of poor food substitutes and what they can lead to
I found this article and thought it was worth sharing as a warning to us all on our life on a gluten free diet. Now you may glance at it and feel it is too long as it is a full page in length. In order for all of us to feel fit and as well as possible we need to understand what food items do to

Banging my head off a brick wall.
Thank you all for your comments and advice on the "do you feel ill" thread, I love this site! I didn't want to hijack Lynxcat's thread more than I already had so thought I make my own post. Potted history; Shane is now ten, he had a negative Coeliac test at age 8 after many years of stomach pain, lack

Should I be tested, and which test(s)?
Hi all, new to this site and to gluten sensitivity altogether! I hope you all don't mind my giving a bit of my history, as a background to my question below. I was diagnosed as hypothyroid last September during tests following three miscarriages (I have since had 2 more). My TSH and FT4 levels are

Prof Hughes' December 2011 blog - last blog!
This is my last blog for some months. Our young charity is growing fast. Thanks to the efforts of Lynne Kirwin and Kate Hindle, and their dedicated helpers, we are beginning to see a mushrooming of interest in the syndrome, and some tangible results. For example, the survey carried out

Does anyone with APS follow a Gluten free diet? Or Paleo diet?
I don't but am considering, the Paleo route, as it appears it could have a positive effect on helping with the APS and the symptoms.

More on Oats.
http://www.csaceliacs.org/InfoonOats.php This I think is very interesting because they say about different strains of oats being more toxic. And what really interests me is that the majority of coeliac seem to want to eat oats. The things that worry me are that the research groups only had around
