Is it worth trying a gluten free diet?
Just wondered if it is worth eliminating gluten from my diet, I have had IBS for years, together with fybromyalgia, under-active thyroid and possible Lupus! One of worse symptoms though is the pain and bloating from my IBS so any advice would be welcome! Thanks LucyKris

Recommendations by a dietitian diagnosed with coeliac disease:
I thought that this was extremely interesting. It has been written to the BMJ - helping doctors make better decisions. Just in case the link to this letter doesn't work effectively I have included the whole letter below but please try the link and, if possible, read the original article to which this

Gluten's tentacles spread far and wide and now, it appears, are affecting the horse racing sport and even more especially dressage horses!
Occasionally, I have heard the odd celebrity mention that they feed their miniature dog on a gluten free diet but it appears that gluten is, for want of a better description, poisoning much larger animals too. Although, the thought of animals suffering because they are fed by man on foodstuffs that they

Allergies, Intolerances and Autoimmune Diseases
When most of us think of the word "allergy" we are thinking of a systemic immune response, or at least an immediate and visible reaction. For myself as a child, allergies meant allergic rhinitis - streaming eyes, runny nose, and atopic reactions (rashes, usually itchy) to almost everything it seemed.

Useful Gluten free Guide
I thought you might find this useful for anyone wanting to know about the gluten free diet and what it entails. Its mainly for British coeliacs, but may be of interest for those who want to know what a safe gluten free diet entails here is the link to the document. http://www.mediafire.com/download.php

IBS-a etc. what does this mean?
I was diagnosed with IBS in July this year after a Colonoscopy and Scan showed no abnormalities.I'm so glad I found this forum because I have had very little advice from my GP and my Consultant discharged me as soon as I received the negative Colonoscopy report. I have seen many references to ibs-a,

Is coeliac's always visible on biopsy or is it normal to be sent off
My daughter had a blood test for coeliac's a few months ago her ttg was 26 the GP put her straight on a gluten free diet. When we finally got a consultant appointment we had to go back on gluten before she had a biopsy, the blood test at this point was normal they said due to the gluten free diet. 6

What does a 'false negative' result with a coeliac blood test mean?
I was given my blood test results this morning by the receptionist at our surgery - I have to wait another week until I get to see a doctor to actually find out more details and she just read out to me what she could see on the screen. I have been getting IBS-type symptoms since earlier this year

What triggers you?
Since I've no prescription painkillers to ease a flair up, I have been considering lifestyle changes that could help. This week, I am going to try a gluten-free diet as recommended by a website I was reading earlier today. I've tried many things over the years, but I still haven't found what triggers

Dermatitis Herpetiformis - does it look like this
It has been a while since I gave an update on Zac’s condition - www.feedingmyintolerantchild.com This week we had a distressing new symptom to deal with and I wanted to share it with everyone – just in case anyone else is going through this and is as puzzled as me. Zac has been ill with his intolerances

Pizza Hut UK launch a new Gluten Free pizza - or do they?
Are chains now catering for coeliacs or just trying to cash in on the 'trend' for gluten free diets from non-coeliacs that think it will help them lose weight - which we all know isn't true! Guerrillas, Do you have fond memories of eating at Pizza Hut before you were diagnosed a Coeliac? We do

Does anyone have arthritis caused or triggered by Coeliac disease?
If so, does yours relieve when you are following a strict gluten free diet or not? The latest theory is that my spondyloarthritis and enthesitis could be related to coeliac disease (in the same was as crohns or colitis can link), though from what I have been reading coeliac arthritis relieves a lot

Hi guys!!! Newbie here and I have some questions!
Well, they have just sent away the test to find out if I have Coeliac's. I have a few questions that my doc struggled to answer. Bit of background. I am 27 and have been having problems with my stomach for around 2 years. However have had some minor problems in the past. My symptoms have been

New to the forum
Hi Everyone, I am new to the forum, I have no diagnosis of coeliac. My background is that I have been suffering with bad migraines and headaches for 40 years. I have been trying everything I can think of stop them. I went on gluten free diet in June this year and felt healthier but the headaches did

Does anyone else have both Coeliac Disease and IBS?
I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease 4 years ago and have stuck religiously to a Gluten free diet ever since. In May of this year I began experiencing severe abdominal pain with mucousy diarrhoea occasionally streaked with blood. I had a Colonoscopy followed by a CT Scan which both showed no abnormalities

So happy
So this is not really a question, but I just wanted to put something out there - which is how lucky i feel to have figured this all out somewhat. Regardless of the final outcome of everything, I feel really lucky that a gluten free diet has helped me so much; and that it is something so uninvasive and

Coeliac disease immunotherapy that would replace a gluten-free diet begins clinical trial
Some way off but likely to be a possibility in the future. What's your view? http://medcitynews.com/2012/09/celiac-disease-immunotherapy-that-would-replace-a-gluten-free-diet-begins-clinical-trials/
