An advent of ideas 12: forbidden foods?
Anyone reading my posts here will know that I have concerns about the fearfulness around food which exists for some people, for some even a morally tinged good/bad issue and the way in which food avoidance is almost a hobby (just as dieting can be) I was interested recently to read Beyond Temptation,

Have you tried everything and still feel unwell?
There have been lots of posts and questions on here lately from people wondering what to do next. Is there anything left that you can try to make you feel better? Maybe your blood tests don’t accurately reflect how you feel. You may think you’ve tried everything – you’ve tried all the thyroid replacement

AM PUTTING MY HEAD ABOVE THE PARAPET TO BE SHOT DOWN......
Having observed many posts on this forum I am aware that I have not seen many references to diet and the food we eat. Hippocrates said - Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food. From my studies all illness stems from the gut. Whenever I ask about gut health on this forum - no answer is

Is anyone following gluten contamination elimination diet? I am looking for partners, catering recommendations or any helpful comments.
Trying to remove trace gluten from my diet: In a study published online last week in the journal BMC Gastroenterology, researchers from the Center for Celiac Research (formerly part of the University of Maryland, now part of Massachusetts General Hospital) described using a diet comprised of whole foods

Hypothyroid Queen's drama and fuss, progress with autoimmune and LDN adventures!
This morning I awoke and screeched with laughter - my husband was standing looking puzzled at the bottom of my bed, announcing how very tight his trousers were feeling, and asking my opinion on his appearance. He had of course put on my skinny black jeans convinced they were his. I don't know if it

Could I be celiac despite my tests all being negative?
I have been suffering from digestive issues for the past 4 years now. Having undergone blood tests, barium enema, sigmoidoscopy and endoscopy which all came back clear I have been diagnosed with a functional bowel disorder. My symptoms are mainly nausea, morning diahorrea, extreme fatigue and light-headedness

Benefit of a gluten-free diet for liver health regardless of gluten intolerance?
I just read the book, 'wheat belly' by William Davis. He talks about gluten being the source of many autoimmune conditions, even in the absence of gluten intolerance or celiac disease, due to its effect on bowel permeability to the circulatory system. I'm wondering if anyone out there has tried a gluten

Hashimotos and Gluten
I´ve been looking into the effects of a Gluten free diet and the reversal of symptoms and antibodies and there have been quite a few impressive claims among the bloggers backing each other up and confirming among themselves that such a diet greatly improved their health. Starting Levo tomorrow....advice please?
Basically, like many others I struggled to get diagnosed but was eventually prescribed 25mg Levo. When I read the side effects I was horrified as they included hair loss, weight gain, depression and constipation which are my worst symptoms so I made the decision not to take them. Later, I managed to

Laparoscopy Preparation and Packing List:
Due to endometriosis and ovarian cysts I had a laparoscopy and bilateral ovarian cystectomy in June in preparation for IVF. I was petrified and had put the operation off for months in the hope that I would get pregnant and then not have to deal with going into hospital and have someone play with my ovaries
